    Samsung LN52B75

Had a power spike but see no signs on the power supply board - no bubbled caps and fuses show continuity. There is the small red light at on/off area in front of TV
When I unplugged the ribbon cable to the main board the display lights up. How likely will another main board fix this problem?

"When I unplugged the ribbon cable to the main board the display lights up" So the inverter, the backlights, and the power supply for the inverter are OK. So I would say you do have main board problem, but you should try disconnecting the LVDS cable between the main board and the T-CON and see if you can turn the TV on and have backlights.
