    Re: Sanyo DP42740 no power

yea i did add a bit of solder to each side to get it lifted, but i may have already messed it up when i tried to lift it without doing that. i didnt think i'd heated it for that long but oh well. live and learn. at least it can be repaired. worse case i could solder wires to complete the connection, right?

Install new diode and see if the stby power supply will not longer stuck in startup/shutdow loop due to bad diode.

yes thanks tom66 but that pdf doesnt actually have a skematic for the PSU as far as i could tell... doesnt even have a components list for it.
                      i have chassis type 04

tv is still running strong a few months later. my friend loves his "new" tv, hes in front of it for hours every day! anyway so i found another one of these at the recycle place...or so i thought...turns out the chassis number is slightly different. the one i started this post with is chassis 04, the new one i found recently is chassis 00.
when we first got it, it worked for a whole day, then turned off. i was able to turn it back on, but then it turned off again after a few minutes. you could hear the relay switch inside keep trying to click over and over but nothing was happening. so i pushed power to turn it off, and it turned off. now today i look at it again, and it turns on just fine and stays on, and the backlight lights up but the picture only flashes for an instant every 10 seconds or so. i dont know much about how the plasmas work exactly yet but i figured i'd open it up and swap power supplies with the one i had fixed before since i know its good.
                            but then i got stopped.
they look the same on the outside but on the inside the parts are different.
different but similar. the PSU board still has all the same connections but the 00 chassis PSU is much bigger than the 04 chassis, i just might have to stretch a wire to reach.
but i am worried about just trying this power supply since if it blows then my friend will be really bummed. how can i know if these PSU are compatible?

thanks bud. i was able to see on shopjimmy that the two boards 1AV4U20C52300 and N0AB6JK00001 are indeed compatible. i wonder if the mainboards could be as well...

well according to shopjimmy they are compatible and maybe they are, but the connectors arent and i would have to disassemble and reassemble connectors to make the wiring correct... big pain that i just dont have the patience for at the moment. im pretty sure it is the power supply anyway. it seems like its an overheating issue since it turns off after a while (a few hours or maybe all day) and then wont turn on again until it cools down. is this only capacitors that cause this kind of behavior or could it be another part?

the way it seems like im running my business, since it takes so long to troubleshoot the component level (since im not so good at it yet, and also just because it takes time), if i can get the replacement board for 30 or less then i will just go that route, fix the tv, and sell it. this means im going to end up with a bunch of undiagnosed faulty boards...guess ill just give them away here for the cost of shipping until i finally get better/quicker at repairing them.

Too be honest thats sometimes what i do. I also use the faulty boards for parts salvage or when im board with nothing to do i will have another go at fixing it.

                                          Re: Sanyo DP42740 no power

well great. i got the replacement board in today...plugged it in, all excited. get nothing. turns on for a second. green LED comes on...backlight flashes once, then dies..

before i replaced the board i tested the original one time, and it came on. as was the pattern. if i leave this tv alone for days it will turn on for a while then turn itself off. then over the next day or so you will get less and less time out of it before it shuts off, until it just wont turn on...then u can rest it for a few days and repeat... (i havent thouroughly tested this but thats what its been seeming like)
so i turned it off and replaced with the board i got from ebay and i got the green light for a second, flash of backlight then dead.

so dang i figured the board i got from ebay is bad then. so i put my orginal back in...now its doing the same thing. green light, backlight flash, turn off.

so much for saving myself the trouble by just buying the board. looks like ill have to actually try to diagnose something.

could it be my inverter and not my power supply?

PS i could believe that the power supply he sent me is broken though, because it was cheap, and because it just came wrapped in bubble wrap with no anti static protection (tell me im not the only one who gets pissed off about that?)

PPS i just realized the service manual has a lot of troubleshooting guides in it i havent followed yet. thank you sanyo!
