I have a Sony KDL-32bx330 that has just stopped working on me. It was manufactured in february 2012 and as far as I know has not had any power surges to note.
TV stopped working part way through a movie (didn't hear any popping noises or crackling) it just turned off, when i turned it back on half the display (left) was a vertical rainbow pattern that dissipated from the center back out to the left side facing of the display. The backlight would then shut off then turn itself back on after a few seconds but with no display (not even menu options are visible). Before the backlight turned off then back on again the SONY logo was visible for about 2 seconds.
I opened up the TV (out of warranty) to reseat the cable connections to the inverter board to ensure that wasn't the cause and I found that one of the bands connecting the panel to the board was burnt up! I have attached pictures below. Looking closer at it i have found that the metal piece holding the panel to the TV also had a lot of scorching and burn marks on it.
Has anybody else encountered a problem like this? And should I be contacting SONY about this issue? I mean looking at things it doesn't look like I have any repair options available anymore. Any help on the cause and/or solution to this would be greatly appreciated.
