    - I did find upon initial inspection that the "ribbon pinch" issue did occur on my TV, the ribbon cable connected to the board did have a cosmetic issue that may have been the original cause. I am unsure. I moved the TV 1 day before the issue began, set it up and it worked fine until the next morning, then the issue occured.
    - By replacing the EBR73748601 in my LG Plasma 50PA4500 the issue resolved.

Good glad to hear it's fixed now for some preventative maintenance I would remove those little plastic tabs that rub the ribbon cables because it is going to cause a problem it's not if its when.

After pulling the top left Y Board in the 50PA4500 I did a continuity for shorts like Tom66 linked, I found that on the bottom ribbon connector there was one area at the end which made beeps for what I am assuming is a short? Any help would be much appreciated.

Also I might add after the bottom half flashed grey, I noticed that the backlight is consistent across the screen but there is still no video from the input source.
    - When I put that Y board back in, I have no backlight and no bottom half flash upon power on.

Disconnect the top Y-buffer board. It's the board in the top left of the panel with the orange ribbons coming out of it. You will need to undo the ribbons and unscrew the board, then slide the board out from the connectors.

Turn the TV on, if you get half a picture, the plasma panel is bad and this is an unrepairable fault. There is a serious design flaw with these panels where the casing eats into the ribbons going to the panel causing short circuits. Unfortunately the ribbons aren't replaceable, they are glued to the panel.
Hello, I have a similar issue, LG 50PA4500. This is my first "in-home" TV repair, I have some experience with a previous employer swapping boards for computers / TVs but do not understand the technical jargon of how electrical current works. I have basic multi-meter skills but if you can help me in any way I would appreciate some coaching here.

My TV was working fine this morning then all the sudden it turned off. I thought this was because of my computer screen saver but when I tried to use the remote to power on there was no video. After a few times of trying to power it on I realized a few things.

    Probing:
    - With the TV unplugged, I plugged it in and heard the click like normal.
    - Then pressed the power button on the control panel, it clicked again like normal.
    - The power light (red) flashed twice (unusual)
    - No video appears from my live HDMI source, I confirmed that there is sound coming from the source through the TV.

    Troubleshooting:
    - Took off the back casing, there are no bad caps.
    - No evidence of burning or overheated components
    - No smell
    - No unusual noises
    - The red light on the main board is solid
    - The green light on the control board is flashing
    - I tested the VS and VA on all 3 power boards and the voltage was normal.
    - After looking through several forums I followed the steps of removing the top left Y board like the screen shots that Mac108 posted.
    - I powered on the TV and the bottom half flashed grey briefly and then disappeared.
    - Does this really mean that my display is shot because of the ribbon cables? Is there any other troubleshooting that I have overlooked? I found most of the boards on shopjimmy...

Check your Y-buffer board for shorts:

With both Y-buffers disconnected, the clicking stops. It only makes a buzzing noise.

If you disconnect both Y-buffers does the clicking subside? The clicking is not normal, a gentle buzz is all that is expected.

My YSUS board makes a clicking noise towards the top left of the board when the TV is on. Is that normal?

Is it possible that the YSUS board is bad?

With my 51" samsung plasma I had a bad ps board and a bad y sus board. With nothing plugged into the ps, and when applying power to the ps, the relay would click, then full power would appear at vs and va. then they would turn off right away.
When y sustain board was plugged in I would get no Vs. I checked and Vs showed short on the y board. I started finding a lot of shorted parts on the y board. I checked for shorts on the y buffer board and found none. It was cheaper to replace the y board than to change all the components that were bad. It's working now.
I got the board from Amazon.

What do I need to check to see if I got a DOA board?

Not that common but do recall one user having such an issue with a 42PA4500. Also affects 60" models. Seems 50" is worst affected - may have just been because they sold a lot of them...

Yes, it's green and has a few orange flexible ribbons coming out of it, going into the panel.

One test you can do is to unplug the upper buffer from the Y-sus (you can leave orange ribbons connected.) You will need to remove the screws then gently slide it out.

When you power the TV on if the bottom half works ok you probably have this problem with the panel. AFAIK no one has yet fixed it, the TV is scrap (unfortunately.)

No I missed that. Which is the upper buffer board? The board at the top left when looking at the back of the TV?

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
    by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

LG Plasma 50PA5500. Sound, no picture !!
    by divingfe
Sorry if this is too repetitive, or in the wrong place.
I'm new, and having much the same problem. My LG50PA5500 TV has been working flawlessly since new. The other day, while in the midst of watching a broadcast DTV channel, the entire screen suddenly and silently went dark (no snaps, crackles or pops); sound, channel selection and inputs all work OK.
I have checked connections and voltages from: stdby, pwr supply board fuses, psb output voltages to Zsus board and its fuse, output voltages from Zsus to Ysus and its fuse. All precisely normal!! I've also checked voltages to the...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture

    Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
    - sound and backlight, but no picture
    - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
    - it keeps rebooting
    - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
    - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
    by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
    by Ierwin
    Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...
