You replaced the ps board and still don't get vs or va? Where did you get the board?
With my 51" samsung plasma I had a bad ps board and a bad y sus board. With nothing plugged into the ps, and when applying power to the ps, the relay would click, then full power would appear at vs and va. then they would turn off right away.
When y sustain board was plugged in I would get no Vs. I checked and Vs showed short on the y board. I started finding a lot of shorted parts on the y board. I checked for shorts...

I was going the component level thing, I fixed the power supply, but it kept getting deeper and deeper on the Y sus board. The y-sustain board that I got from ebay (despite all the warnings here. heh) was trashed worst than the original. So I went the way I should have and got a new y board from jimmys. Fired right up. I may play with the two remaining boards to find what went wrong with them both.
Learned quite a lot from here and youtube for troubleshooting plasma tv's. And saved my 51 inch from the land fills. I'll continue my electronics...Leave a comment:

With the set off and unplugged using the diode mode on the dmm check the vs to ground and va to ground. if you get a short, unplug the ysus, then xsus and check. If the y and x boards are good, unplug the y board from the buffer board, also inspect the y buffer board chips for little holes. You can check the y buffer with the dmm beep setting, there are youtube vids to show how....Leave a comment:

found two more shorted on the Y board. X board checks out ok...
two RJP30H1 fast switching IGBT. Q5002 and Q5017.
one SF10A400H diode. D5010

Perhaps my iron is set too low for that one... I did get it. Actually destroyed the power mosfet getting it out. eh. well found the culprit on the Y board. Some kind of diode shorted. I still have to check out the x board.......Leave a comment:

Ok, so i'm checking the y board, and found what appears to be a shorted power mosfet. the third led de-soldered easy. the first and second have what looks like little bumps around it and refuses to unsolder.... do I have to drill this out or what? Haven't done any serious solder work since the 80's..... this does not look like a normal thru hole to me.
