Magical way of testing T-Con boards??!!?? - what kind of sorcery is this???

the test coil captures a portion of oscillating current from the board coils, maybe the used led has an integrated resistor, it's a short way to test if the converter is ON or OFF, without searching the test points, the rest is a common issue of bad cap, when a coil is OFF other ones are too, size of coil does not much matter , the important is the limiting resistor for the led, you can use visually a similar coil of the video, try different ones..Comment

he wrote to save time,,, but if we check if there 12V on Fuse of t-CON we go straight to disconnect one half then U ribbon to have 3/4 display.
magnetic coil with LED here work same as wireless charging.. LED < 1.5V like the one RGB one or standby LED , so why this circus needed !!Comment

I am hoping that this can tell me if a T-Con is actually working and active. Testing for power at the fuse or on the rails is one thing but i think he placed tbe coils over the Chips/BGAs to show that they were actively processing signal (ie current flowing through them) even though nothing was showing on the display.
Many T-Cons do not have status LEDs on them so there is no way to know if they are functioning or not unless the TV throws a blinking code.
i have a Sony TV which i have been trying to fix for months. I have sound and everything but no display. Its either the TV or the display and there is no way to know for sure except by process of elimination. I had to order a replacement T-Con bcos there was no other way to know if the original is good or bad.
i would love it if this little trick could help verify this one way or another!
Do you think this would be a good tool for this?? Given that removing FCC cables on sonys dont really work in troubleshooting like they do in other brands.

still an interesting tool/trick and i'll try to make one to see if incannfind any real world use for it.

by x_orange90_xJust bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

by bauto601Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps
The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish.... - Loading...
