Sanyo CE42FD90-B new PSU Board Confusion

    Hi There,

The above set of mine was working fine until recently when it wouldn't come on or the blue light just flashed. I was advised to buy a new powerboard namely a 17pw26-4 v1.0.

I received it today and it has an extra power socket on it, my previous one which has a servere case of swollen caps only had the white connector to plug the power connector in.

This new board also has a black one, when i connect the board up i get nothing, is this because of the black connector (it has nothing attached and is marked PL815!)

if so, how do i get round this problem, i cannot solder the board has im pretty useless at that.
Can I short the 2 pins?

Any advice is gratefully received as I'm currently without a TV until i solve the problem.

    Thanks

Can you supply a picture of the top and bottom of your old and new power board. In your case I think one of the connectors needs to be jumpered for it to work but that is all. Most 17PW26-4s are interchangeable.

Hi - This will be a Vestel board and they rarely seem to produce 2 boards alike
even when they have the same part number.

We will need good clear pictures of both sides of the 2 boards.

If you do not to do any soldering/unsoldering it is probable that we cannot help you. - If you search that board number you will see that there are repair kits readily available which is an indication that the often break down.

        Do you have a multimeter
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

          Thanks for the response
I have attached pictures, the new board is the yellow coloured one, as you can see from the pictures the new board has a second black power socket (PL815).

Does PL815 have to be jumpered in order for the board to work?

if so, can it be done without soldering or by another means.

the boards seem identical besides this extra PL815 2 pin socket.

          Thanks again

You do need to solder. The connector pins of PL815 need to be joined together. I suppose it would be possible without soldering but I would be cautious with something like wire wrap. It could overheat and start a fire (unlikely but it's still mains voltage so it's good to be cautious)

              Thanks tom66

So if i just solder a piece of wire across the two pins on the black plug, it will work fine?

              Thanks Again

Yes. You should put it on the bottom of the board though.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
