No they go much slimmer with mini led also. At the price they are they should be that. Plus every frame TV I've had is super thick.

Anyway glad we nailed down a common failure. Thx to the guy who originally told me about it back on that other post.

if I had to use a ocb, I would drill some decent vent holes all over the cover, so the damn thing could breathe. Then just hide it behind something if looked too funky, at least it might not fry itself all the time, very bad design. Did that to the tank firestick, no problems after.

Yes, BIG thanks to you guys.
That thread of yours saved this TV from the recyclers.

I have saved 3 Frame TVs to date and have kept them all.
Love and utilize the ART function on them....more than i actually ever watch TV.

I am really looking for a smaller one 43/55" (2022+) to go in the dining room.
This is too big (IMO) to go in the intended spot but I might hang it up there until the one i really want comes along and needs repair.

I actually had a 4th defective FRAME TV come my way (bad backlights) but I lost it on the operating table bcos I didnt know how to disassemble it and cracked the screen.
I'm still pissed about that one.... and it was the perfect size although it was an earlier model (2018?) so it was was much thicker than the newer ones today (to your point about thickness).

Anyway when the 12v cooling fan comes in I will post pics of the upgrade.

As for the underside, i removed most of the silicone and put a thick thermal pad there to help keep that side cool(er).
These are the thermal pads that were on the sustains of old plasma TVs. I was always impressed how thick they were (10+mm!).

Yeah when I find a failure and a random TV I try and post it here just to help everyone out as they have helped me out. I've learned a lot from here and fixed probably 400 TVs now realistically it's probably more like 200 but it seems like so many

                  Just buttoned this up.
Added a 12v 25mm fan, a thick thermal pad to the bottom and a good dab of thermal paste.
I went ahead and tapped into the 5V rail of the USB port bcos the fan running on 12v was way too loud for my liking and USB port only gets power when the unit is turned ON.
I secured the fan with thick double sided adhesive taped (to minimize any vibrations) and found a good spot near the cover where there were vent openings and a clear channel (on the board) to move air.
ChatGPT says that blowing cool air INTO a space is more effective than pulling hot air out so I orientated the fan to blow in.

Even without all of this the hottest components (resistors, etc) were only warm to the touch but this upgrade should alleviate any thermal related issues in the future.
The next owner will not have to worry about this issue at least.

I think I will also upgrade all my other OCBs with this little fan as well.
Thanks guys (@Eazybone in particular) for the assistance!

Nice work, you're the first one here that I've seen modified this poor design, I bet it lasts a good long time now.

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Samsung The Frame TV no power indicator issues diagnosing the one connect box
                      by EazyBone
I got a qn65ls03ta from someone who stated shows no power at all. They said they bought a fully new tv (same one) and tested the one connect box from the old one onto the new one and said it worked.

I have no reason not to believe them, so I crack open the TV and test for voltages on the main board. There are none. I can't get any voltage at all. (Power comes from one connect to Main board then sends power to additional power board for backlights I believe)

While doing some digging I found the connection to the one connect cable ON the main board seems to be missing small...

Trying to Save - Samsung UN40MU6300 - No Signs of Life
                      by KYBOSH
                      Picked this one up today.

No signs of life whatsoever. No red led light from the IR module.

Disconnected the mainboard to see if PSU was working and it was (LED backlights lit up).

Checked the power button for continuity when buttons were pressed and I got readings.
Disconnected various components (speaker, wifi module) with no difference.

Checked mainboard's fuses (found 3) and they were all good.
I looked on shopjimmy to see what components I may have been missing and I saw that they were selling EEPROMs.

                      Then it dawned...

                      Graphics Card mounting frame
                      by Kemer
Hello, I removed the graphics card from my laptop and I want to heat it in the oven. What I want to ask is, is it okay to heat the card without removing the metal mounting frame on it?

As you can see in the photo, there is a plastic (black) gasket between the metal frame and the card. It sticks the frame tightly to the card.

I previously removed the metal frame while heating it, but it is quite difficult to separate it from the surface it is attached to. If there is no problem, I do not want to remove it.

What worries me right now is the possibility that...

                      by araxnido
Dear friends, I want to share my experience repairing an ASUS TUF FX506L gaming laptop motherboard: DABKXDMB8E0_F_BKXD. Boardview and schematic are available, as well as the BIOS and ITE ROM.

When the customer brought in this laptop, it was initially dead; it showed no signs of booting for any reason. After hours of measurements, checking each stage, MOSFET, and seeing if there was a short circuit in any capacitor, I discovered a strange 0.7V leakage voltage on the 3V_S5 rail, particularly on the PL9 coil, with the board not powered on. There were 3V_LDO and 5V_LDO voltages, which...
