    42PFL7422D/37 Philips Screen Flicker issues

Hello - I read (or tried to at least) through all the forums for my tv. My set had gone out a while back. After reading through the posts, I decided to replace the inverters. It seemed they were the cause of most problems with this model number. I replaced those this morning. Screen comes back on and has been on for about an hour and a half now. That's all good. The problem now is that the screen flickers. It's especially noticeable and hard on the eyes when viewing light colors like the blue/white Philips menu screen. Also, the over all brightness of the screen seems low and the lower half of the screen is darker than the top. I tried to capture this in a video:

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

probably the tubes or tube connections.
and that probably took out the oringinal invertor circuit.

Did it flicker before it "went out"
Try turning the brightness down a bit.
      Try a factory reset.

Hello selldoor - It did not flicker before it went out. The flicker is still present with the brightness all the way down. I've tried quite a few different combinations in the tv settings, but nothing seems to work. I will try a factory reset next.

Thanks for the reply stj - Is there a way to test/fix the the tubes or tube connections?

Still the same flicker and lower half darkness after factory reset. Anything I can test?

if you disconnect the panel from the main board, it may stay on without a picture.
if it does, does the backlight still flicker?

Yes but its not easy - there are videos on youtube of changing bulbs and
                several accounts in this forum.
You can also make up test bulbs from cfls 13w or less see posts by budm

Please post pictures of the inverters ( were they new or just pulls)
and (if there is one on this set- cant remember) the distribution board that the cables from the inverters go to.

I have the same thing happening. My picture went out. I replaced the inverter boards with NEW alternative boards (confirmed compatible replacements). Picture is back with the same exact symptoms as the OP stated. I am considering having ShopJimmy rebuild my original boards, but I am not sure the problem is with the boards as they were brand new. The flicker was definitely not there before I lost my picture. I did notice that if I turn the contrast all the way up to 100 it almost goes away, but the picture does not look so great that way.
