update
had words with sky media, and they say that the eprom or firmware is not at fault,
they also said that they are experts because they make the tv, and the problem is the MOTOR BOARD ? what ever that means, any ideas,
they will supply me with it for £45 +p&p +vat, so about £60, bit over the top for a cheap and chearfull tv.

Might be a bad translation of "Engine board" which is probably something to do with graphics processing.

UPDATE
got another board, and tv is all working fine, but the remote will no longer control the tv,
can i swap the parts from one board to another so that the remote will then control the tv ?
if so, can someone point out the part to swap from the pics at the start of this thread

What TV did the replacement board come from? It might be better just to find a remote for the other TV.

baird 40 inch samsung screen,
also turns out that the buttons are all about face as well, on/off = sorce, lol

Think you'll have to get another main board then, not sure if there is much you can do.

buttons not a problem, just got to pull the wires from plug and swap them about, so they match up,
