Re: samsung LN-T3253H no picture red standby light

Sorry to bring up dead threads but I thought it useful as this is a top search thread for this TV model so we keep things in one place.

I had this TV given to me with the blinking red standby light.
The glue looked bad and there was some corrosion on the legs of RM801 RM810 so I went ahead and replaced them and scraped the glue away - no change.

Then I went ahead and replaced the 7 cold side caps as they are over 10yrs old. Still no luck.

The board is making a zzzt-zzzt-zzzt, suggesting something still not right on the output side. There is 300-400V at RM801 so I guess the PFC stage is OK. Everything checks out visually. I've scraped away most of the remaining glue. What next? Check semiconductors?

Thanks for the reply. Here's some pics of my poor removal of glue. But I think I managed to get it away from all leads. I'm concerned that zener ZDTM851 (left of conn CM803 in the pic, had glue over all legs. I will try to test it.

I had a 5W 0.22R in my drawer so I used that instead. Should be Ok to replace the 1kW RM801.
