I dont know if pin 1 is connected to pin 5..would you need a better pic maybe? Its so tiny.

you can use your multimeter,put it on ohm range(or beep mode) and measure between pin 1 and 5 Should see the same result as holding the 2 prones from meter together...

disregard last post...diode lifted,checking standby voltage....0 volts

At this point I would replace cap C528, and also the new IC at the same time.

just a curiosity question here..how did u find out that c528 needed to be replaced since there wasn't any meter readings done on it?? (just trying to learn)

That start up cap will need to be replaced sooner or later, actually the set of caps should be replaced sooner or later.

How do you order the components? I tried to type what they had printed on the IC for example but it wasn't found..even what was printed next to it on the board.

Well I talked to digikey and they can't find the ic that I need..I hadn't talked to mouser yet.Is there an easier way to locate the part number aside from trying to make out what its
says on the component?

I had to get my stepson to read what is printed on the capacitor(way too small!) and he said it had 0t61ly 222m(then backwards R)1 then he said what looks like a triangle and on the 3rd line it says 250 x 400..is this the part number for the capacitor? Thanks for your help..

Are you sure you looking at C528? Take a picture of what you are looking at.

yes pic is in post #16 ..blue cap near middle has c528 next to it.

This is the start up cap, there should be printing with something like xxUF XXV on it.
