    Samsung UN40EH5300 on/off

    I have searched, not found.
UN40EH5300, LED TV, cycles on and off about every 5-10 minutes for the first 30-40 minutes, then stays on. Picture and sound are fine. However, the smart stuff is not working. It will not see the WiFi.

I Googled and found a main board (allegedly reman by Samsung) and found a Power supply (allegedly from a cracked screen TV....probably cycled on and off and they kicked it )

The main board came in first, installed, and it saw the WiFi, and then cycled off and on. The next day the power supply arrived, it did the same cycle on and off.....and now the new Main board will not see the WiFi. And, occasionally the menu functions freeze until a restart.

Did I ruin the new main with a bad PS?

All Caps on both boards look fine, no evidence of heat, I haven't noticed any bad solder joints.

Temporarily we let it warm up, then use it with a RoKu for smart TV stuff.

Samsung (of course) said it was out of warranty, and a local shop quoted enough that they could bring a new TV to replace this one.
I think the manufacture date was 2012.

    Re: Samsung UN40EH5300 on/off (repaired!)

Since it was turning on and off, and the WiFi didn't connect, I bought a power button, and WiFi module.

    TV functions normally again.

        Re: Samsung UN40EH5300 on/off

I still have the old boards, keeping them for spares..If it helps someone I could post pics. Even though there was no change with the replacement boards I left them in. So the originals are on the shelf.

All in it cost about 45 dollars in replacement boards. I think the only one that was bad was the On/off board and maybe the WiFi module.

          Hi Jeff,
I have the exact model of your TV: Samsung UN40EH5300FXZA version: TH01 and the exact same problem. My TV is less than two years old and upon turning it on, it starts to power off and on periodically for the first 30 minutes or so. It also doesn't recognize my WiFi although my tablet does. I opened it up and the caps look fine although reportedly that doesn't mean they aren't bad. After considerable internet research, it seems it could be the power board or the main board. Like you, I really don't want to buy a part that doesn't solve the problem. Could you explain what/where is the WiFi module and how you replaced the power button? I don't use the power button to turn the TV on/off, I use the remote. I would appreciate any assistance. I can send you pix of my open TV and maybe you can point out what is where. I might even be interested in buying your spare boards if it comes to that. Thanks.

            Re: Samsung UN40EH5300 on/off

You should consider the on/off power/button assembly. The part number is BN96-22413Q for your Model 40". I have the same issues with a UN50EH5300FXZA.
The part number for mine is the same but ends with M.
I will follow up when I complete the repair....

              Re: Samsung UN40EH5300 on/off

I have been dealing with random power off/on issues for my Samsung UN40EH5300 TV for a while now. At times it's every 2-5 mins that the TV will shut itself off and then back on, other times it'll stay on for a whole day. There's also an issue with the TV turning itself on after turning it off which can be annoying if you're trying to sleep.

              I ordered two replacement boards, BN44-00498B and BN94-05917S | BN97-06298N
Switched them out today, but the off/on problem still persists. Perhaps the new boards I got are faulty as well.

Any news here about successful repairs would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your post! Mine started turning on and off too. I bought just the power button, used, on eBay for $5 free shipping and now it works again.

One quick way to make sure your button is the issue is by turning your set on, disconnecting the button and then waiting to see if it still turns itself on and off. I am not sure if the IR sensor is located on the button but if it is not, you can still use the remote to turn everything on and off and won't need to replace the button at all.

I switched out the main board. That didn't work. While in there, I noticed the wi-fi module was very hot after the TV had only been turned on for 2-3 minutes. I removed it. So far the TV isn't turning on/off any more. Perhaps it's been overheating and causing the tv to turn off as a safety mechanism?

It's been a few weeks now, and the tv no longer turns on/off by itself anymore. It appears the wi-fi module was overheating. Since I have have the tv connected to my PS3 which connects to the router wirelessly, I don't need the tv's wi-fi module. Just taking it out solved my problem. I don't think it's worth buying a new wi-fi module as they appear to break so easily.

Got this model in with the problem of the TV resetting after several minutes. Going into the network setting freezes the firmware. Swapped the WIDT20R wifi module with one I had and it seems to have resolved the resetting. However, the wifi can't find any networks. My parent's UN46ES6100F has the same problem. Tried changing the Wifi Region to A in the service menu and doing a service menu reset and with no success. These modules are pretty expensive on ebay (around $50 USD) and Chinese knockoffs on Aliexpress are under $20.
