    Re: 42PJ350 clicking noise

There's something like 20 of them! Which ones in particular?
You can read resistor colour codes right? If not:
    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=re...or+colour+code

Very, very rare for resistors to fail shorted (considered unsafe, they are designed to fail open circuit.) Note, some resistors can be very low resistances, sub 1 ohm that does not make them bad.

      Thank you
      Tom

found 6 components short ysus board, ey712,ey710,ey714,ey752,possible ey736 all fets, 2 diode open d712 d713
checked the buffer board no shorts. tryed unplugging the buffer turn on still clicked there another way to make sure?

going to try and order them today do they have to be exact the same hard to see some of the numbers?

You can use any colour body... the bands are what matters... but why are you replacing them? Resistors rarely fail without obvious marks such as burn marks or discolouration.

Your fault looks like Z-sustain fault.

I've said it before. Resistors nearly never fail short (they almost always fail open), and you can get low resistance resistors. Yours are 2.2 ohm, so that is fine, for them to show shorted on a simple multimeter.

I really doubt they will do anything for your problem...

Red-Red-Gol-Gol = They would be expected to measure about 2.2 ohm each.

So... assuming those are all on the 200 ohm range, you are getting 4.7, 4.2 and 3.5 ohm each, but those sound acceptable, considering tolerance of the resistor (5%), meter (2%), and by far the most significant effect, the zero-resistance of your meter.

To measure the zero resistance of your meter, set your meter to the normal ohms range, and touch the leads together, what do you measure? I expect around 1-3 ohms for most cheap meters.

Ok, different tact... Try probing across a lead of one of the resistors (so red probe and black probe on same lead just to short them out.)

Eh... Just to be sure, both probes on the SAME lead of the resistor, this is just to test how well your meter probes against a resistor (contact pressure affects resistance, especially at low readings...)

Now i have power but is clicking and voltages are flutuating. I change all capacitors, i test all mosfets and all are ok.
i am wondering what is the value of R901! I am getting 0.5Ohms. Is that correct!
the colours look like R,R,W or silver,G Bl.

                                            Thanks...

Removing electrical noise introduced by fan

                                            Hi all,

I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.

Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
                                            1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
                                            2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....

Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

                                            Hello

I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.

Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.

I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board
                                            Removed each of tyhe boards
                                            ...

                                            Hello!

TL;DR: Replaced blown Q801, Q802 and fuse, but it didn't fix the problem.

I'm trying to repair this TV, since it developed clicking symptom. I disconnected Y-SUS and Z-SUS boards, but PSU was still clicking, so then I was sure problem lies in PSU. When you plug it in, you can hear 2 clicks from relay and then one click when it shuts down. I found two shorted mosfets Q801, Q802 and blown fuse F801. I replaced those elements, but it's still doing the same.

After some research, I found out resistors R108-113 need to be checked and sure one was showing...
