So I picked this e322vl and you plug it in and as usual the logo flashes orange and white for like 30 sec. Then goes to orange. I can turn the tv on, the splash screen turns on for like 10 sec. Then it goes to the source. Like a regular tv. You can turn it off no problem and turn it back on without the flashing logo. But if you unplug even for a second it repeats the logo flashing. Also when the tv is off there is a whine coming from the power supply. I can't see exactly where cause it seems like it's coming from underneath a big heat shield that has a coil under it and some regulators in there. Any ideas

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
Many TVs save money by having a small flash memory with "compressed" firmware. When the TV is powered on it runs a short bit of code from boot ROM which is not compressed, which then uncompresses the code into the RAM, and executes it. So the initial power on flashing could be it just getting ready to start. And it's not unusual for power supplies to whine under varying load, in this case it would be light load with just an LED and a CPU running but no audio, no T-con, only light CPU usage, etc.
(This is probably part of the reason Vizio firmware gets corrupt so easily, a single byte corrupt in the compressed F/W and it will not decompress it, and I bet there is zero error redundancy.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
What do you think I should do to look into the whine. And possible the logo issue.Comment

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
The whine is probably normal, I've encountered lots of power supplies with no fault that do that. (If the power supply doesn't work it can indicate a fault, but it doesn't always.) The Sharp 32" in my bedroom takes about 20 seconds to boot if it is unplugged at the wall. But from standby it boots in 2 seconds. So I think it's actually OK. Just my two pence, though. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
So come to find out there is actually a problem with the tv. It turns on like I explained before but it goes I to a profile guest mode. And says no master channels. And you can't do anything. But if you turn it on and right when it turns on hit the menu button it will let you go through the menu. BUT. After about 3-4 min of it being on the tv turns off and the logo lights up orange and then the logo starts flashing and will turn on by itself and do the same process again over and over. Do you think this sounds like a EEPROM issue.Comment

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
So when the tv turns off. It still retains 5v stand by. But looses the 12v turn on signal. I felt everything on the board to see if anything was getting hot but nothing is hot unless it's under the heat shield and it's not getting hot enough to heat up the shield. Any ideas on where to start looking.Comment

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
So after doing some research I found that its a common issue with vizios have random rebooting. And what I did is in the time it would turn on go into the settings and reset it back to default which of course this one had parental controls but I found a master reset code on this website that worked. http://www.tvblanket.com/how-to-unlo...trol-password/. So I did the reset and now the tv turns on and stays on. I have had it on now for 10 min now and went through settings and set up the wireless internet and all and picture settings and it hasn't turned off yet. Only thing that does kinda suck is it still makes the whine when off and in standby but not while the tv is on. But so far the tv is fixed. Hopefully it stays that way.Comment

Another update. The whine went away after it updates the firmware automatically so it's functioning normally now.Comment

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
So I need some more help here. The tv was working fine and I have been testing it before sale. Well the tv when I pressed a button on my verizon remote to change the channel when the tv did the command I could tell it kinda flickered a little. So I unplugged the coax and power to make sure it was a good connection. Then turned back on and within the next minute of it coming on and the tv showing the programming the picture froze and then the tv reset itself. After it reset itself I restored the tv to factory defaults and it was working good. I hooked up internet and got updates and even before I did that a kinda noticed the flicker after the remote command but it wasn't bad and the tv didn't freeze. So I let the tv sit on and came back about a hour later and the picture was fine for a couple seconds and then just lines across the whole screen of the image that was on the programming. Then after a sec it would straighten out. And then a couple min later do it again. I tried flexing the tv it didn't change anything. So I took the back off again and noticed the heat sink on the power supply and the heat sink on the main board are real hot. When I turned the tv back on the lines issue didn't happen and I think it would come back if I left it on for a hour or so. I don't know where to start looking cause the tv functions but gets hot and the lines come after it's been hot. I'm wondering if the main BGA under the heat sink on main board or the EEPROM under the main board is the issue. I'm not sure how to check. Or if it lies somewhere else on the tv. Any ideas?Comment

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
Maybe it could be a heat issue if it happens after the tv has run for a while. I had a 37 vizio that would randomly freeze in the menus and in vga mode would turn off in less than a minute and in tuner would turn off in less than 10 minutes. I put a big fan on the power supply and it still turned off. but when i put a big fan on the main board it stayed on. New mainboard later and its working great!Comment

Re: Vizio e322vl weird kind of issue
That's what I was thinking maybe a new main board is needed just trying to avoid that route if I can figure out at component levelComment

by ugamazingSo, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:
1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.
2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not... -
by Bob1394I have used the search, and am stumped.
My Vizio M65-C1, Vizio logo appears for about 10 seconds then goes off.Power LED blinks 15 times then the TV powers down.
I have read through many threads on the M65-C1 including the following threads. I feel like I must be looking right past the solution to my problem:

by MectronikHello, I'm working on a Vizio m601d-a3 with a backlight issue that I am having a difficulty diagnosing it. As it sits, the tv powers on, displays the Vizio symbol and with nothing hooked up it will then display no signal but you can only see half of the screen. I know it's a back light issue because the picture is there without light behind it, as I can see it by doing a light test. I've taken off the paneling and done a visual inspection. If I disconnect the tcon ribbon cable to the affected side then the entire half of the screen goes away. I've checked voltages at the LED driver from the main...
