Just to update, new motherboard fixed my no picture issue. And i used a rev 1.2 in place of my rev 1.1 with no issue.

So i tested the tempurature more in depth, indeed the main cpu seemed to have tempurature issues and most likely bad bga connections. I removed the heat sheild, and blasting the cpu with freeze spray would result in the set not powering on when plugged in until i warmed the cpu and replugged power. When the set was in its unresponsive state, the power board was being turned on by the main board, all rails besides backlight and tcon were on, the main cpu seems to lock up when its too cold and leave the power supply in a semi turned on state....Leave a comment:

I tested my tempurature theory today, indeed when the main board is cold the tv will not start up. I put the main board in ther freezer and tried to start the tv, no power on when the main board was at 27f. I warmed it to 88f and the tv turned on. Im wondering if it's safe to assume that the main board is also the cause of the no picture? Thanks for any suggestions. Ill keep testing in the mean timeLeave a comment:

I dont get a v or anything else on startup, nothing comes up when pressing any button on tv or remote. Backlight starts dim when power is pressed and goes to full brightness after a few seconds.
Another thing i noticed, it didnt want to turn on in the cold, it was 19f last night and its in my unheated garage and it didnt turn on this morning until i warmed the boards a bit with a heater, although that may be unrelated or it could be indicative of maybe bad solder joints on the main board? I tried disconnecting just the cables from the tcon to the panel, i would just get a white side and a black side when i disconnect one of them, alternating if i switch which is disconnected. On the e601i the ribion cables for the horizontal drivers are buried in the panel assembly and a pain to get to so i havent tried that yet. Whats the bandwidth for lvds data? Ive got a dso138, maybe i can see if the main board is sending lvds data. Tomorrow Im planning on reading the eeprom from the ZG tcon and comparing it to the ZC tcon. Maybe ill try...Leave a comment:

I bought one and tried it. Still no picture. The transistor on the new board is not shorted either, i bought it as a used board. Does anyone have any suggestiond what else to try, is it because i used the G tcon in place of my C? Bad main board?...Leave a comment:

Hello, I recently picked up a e601i-a3 with no picture, went through the basics and all voltages on psu seem fine, backlight seems fine, turns on and off fine, tested tcon board for blown coya mosfet and it was fine on my set, tested resistance between the cathode side of diode and ground as i saw in a video and got 10k ohm (video claimed 1k: panel is bad, 10k:panel is good) fuse on tcon not blown, tcon gets 12v.

e320VL motherboard compatability HELP!!!
I have a e320vl i am fixing for a friend. It has faulty firmware as described in other places here in these forums. Called vizio and they refused to send new firmware. I decided to order a new mainboard. Received the new mainboard and it is different. The tv i am fixing has the AUO panel while the mainboard is from an LG panel. Is there any way to make the LG mainboard work? can i solder the connector from the old mainboard to the new one? Another mainboard is too expensive. Any way tofix the firmware without the vizio tool? thanks soo much!

I have one of these tvs with the exact same symptoms, i checked psu voltages, all stable, no bulging caps. unplugged everything from the mainboard except power, no change. took the backlight enable wire out from the psu to see if it will stay on without the backlight, still turns off. Ive checked all fuses and regulators i could find on the main board, all were good. I tried swapping in a known good eprom from a e370vl, no change. sony KDL-46s4100 no picture
Hi guys, have this sony with no picture. It powers on, after about 15 seconds, backlight comes on but no picture (i was told it had sound but i have not heard it for myself). I checked psu voltages and all were in spec, 12v was a little low at 11.56, but it did not drop further than that. I checked the power regulation IC (ISL976) on the TCON which was supposed to supply the voltages needed for the TVCON board and found it only put out 3.3v, Avdd was at only 11.56, and Von and Voff were both at 0v. the tv takes 1080p and many other resolutions via the laptop so the resolution is not the problem. the first few times i tested it devices were connected with the tv unplugged. what could be different between the laptop and all the other devices ive tried? ill take it back apart again and reseat the connector and measure the voltages to the hdmi chip.

Sony Bravia Kdl-v40Xbr1 picky HDMI input
Hi guys, I recently picked up a free very old sony bravia that would power on to a black screen. I took it apart, cleaned the tons of dust that had filled it, resoldered a few sketchy looking joints on the PSU, cleaned and reseated most of the connectors, and it started working again! But upon testing, ive found that the HDMI is really picky. Only my sony laptop would work with the HDMI on this tv. Ps3= black screen, google tv= showed the splash screen, but after that had a solid grey screen, android stick= scrolling nonsense. What could cause this? The HDMI cable is good.
