mitsubishi lt52246 transparent blue line on right side of screen.

    Hello friends!

    Starting my next LCD project.

I got a mitsubishi lt52246, it takes a little bit to turn on, once it's on there is a transparent blue line on the right side of the screen, it seems to disappear when the scenes are light, as you can see in the photo below.

There was also a solid yellow/green pixel wide line on the left side but it went away after being on for about 20 min.

This a bad panel or possible t-con issue? I pushed on the putter edges of the screen and it didn't affect anything.

I am actually pretty impressed with this unit, besides it's affliction it's got an excellent picture and the 120hz motion engine is super smooth compared to some of the others I have played with.

Here is a photo showing the line gone / cut in half with a lighter contrast scene.

The image behind the blue line seems a little solarized.

looks like a tab bond issue at the top ribbons that attached to the glass face.
You'll have to remove the metal frame around the lcd to access them and see if that is what it is
Applying mild pressure to the ribbon should show if it is that, as this will cause them to change the image if it is that.

Feared that, I will see what I can do. If it's that and it can go away I might that shop jimmy bike tube shim trick.

I think it's worth a shot on this panel.

          bike tube trick ???
I usually use the foam pads that are coated with a grayish cloth tape for pads.
There may even be some of those on the frame already that can be rearranged or moved around. On the one 30 inch, I move this pad from the top to the front and it fixes it right up.

certain size wire shrink tubing might work ?? I never tried that

some guys use thermal pads but I find them too stiff and hard to get just the right thickness. Last time I tried that it was too thick and caused light bleeding in screensaver because the pressure was too great, so I went back to foam pads.

On one, the actual metal frame was touching the top of the ribbon just enough to cause a pixel line issue, so I cut a section of the metal frame out just over that ribbon, and applied heat resistant tape to the outside to keep dust out.

Do not reheat the ribbon to try to get it to readhere, this usually loosens more up

The bike tube deal was someone cutting up a bike tube in rectangle bits to fit the length of the ribbon tab.

The rubber can take the heat as well as be flexible enough to smash between the metal and tab.

First thing first, need to see if it's actually the cause but I am sure it is

I actually have some 1/4" thick Foam Dynamat for dampening cars for road noise I might try that.

Its supposed to be high temp too as you can apply it in your engine bay on the fire wall and with most FWD cars the exhaust is on the back of the motor so its worth a shot

                  ^ thanks

Anyone here ever had one of these taken apart? I don't really see a whole lot of information on repairs outside of a few minor details and defiantly no internal shots.

Here is the spec sheet on the foam I want to try for this tab bond fix, it says it can with stand temps up to -30f - 200f / -34c - 93c.

I have 1/4th and half inch thickness at my disposal.

Fixed the blue line, the other side is a failure of the ic and got worse. Time to recycle.

                        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Magnum IA.100 Amplifier Switches on, No Output, Possible Input Side fault?
                        by flibidy
I have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.

The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.

Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.

                        Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

                        Sony OLED XBR-65A8G 4 flashes
                        by Glaval
Hello, my Aunt recently gave me her broken Sony XBR-65A8G OLED after getting a replacement. It had a 4x led flash error, a replacement T-con didn't fix the error but with helpful info from this forum I found one of the smd ceramic caps on the panel pcb (C575/C378) on a 24v line was shorted to ground. I removed that cap and the tv turned on without error. It still had a black screen with the original t-con back in it, once I put the replacement t-con in it finally had a picture. After doing a panel refresh it had a very good picture but with a few vertical lines for some scenes. For owners with...

Hi all, I tried searching the site for answers but I'm a bit over my head understanding some of what might apply and what doesn't, so please be patient with me. I used Freakaftr8's fix to remove the left driver board to restore picture to a black screen with sound Vizio E701i-A3. After doing so, I now have a large red vertical stripe down the center of the screen. The fix did require getting another t-con board from online, I ordered it before I knew about the mosfit fix for the old t-con board. I have tried cleaning the cable connections to the t-con board. I swapped the cables going from...
