I confirmed the Out several times.

    Part number is:
    AMC1117
    F0706J

    Close up of U5/U10/U9 attached.

Still think replacing that AMC1117 at U5 is a good starting point?

I'm still not getting how to check out those fuses...
With the unit off I get continuity but how do I check the current draw?

    Thanks again
It is bad, replace it first and go from there. The DCV between ADJ pin and the Vout pin should be = 1.25V, you have almost 2V.

        Re: Vizio gv47l fhdtv10a

Guys... thanks so much for the assistance! I have the 1.5 amp fuse (I know it's not needed but) and the voltage regulator on order and on the way. It is going to be so exciting to swap out that part and see if a simple $1.74 part can fix this nice TV. I checked pin 3 to ground on all the other IC's and they all seemed okay so I'm thinking it's just this one. We'll see in a few days when the parts get here.

If you cut the legs of the IC off first then use flux and add solder to the big tab then it will be easy remove IC using 40W soldering iron with wide tip.

            Re: Vizio gv47l fhdtv10a

THANKS ALL...!!! It was that voltage regulator IC and that seems to have been all. I had some trouble getting the old one off and then realized that my soldering iron simply wasn't getting hot enough. I picked up a new one and from there it was a piece of cake. Image is crisp and bright, sound is awesome with those big external speakers (one being a subwoofer). I may not sell this and just put it on the wall of my garage shop? Hey silly question but what happens if you leave an LCD tv in your Green Bay garage over the winter?

The TV's user manual should give some indication as to the temperatures\moisture levels it can withstand during storage and operation.

But, if you think the garage is too damp or cold, then maybe it is, for a cheap TV.

I have the same TV with a very similar problem. No backlight. The caps on the backlight inverter boards were roached. I replaced them all with new 680uF@35V (except for one that's a 25V cap) I have all of the needed voltages including the turn on at the master board (24V, grounds and 3.1v and 5V). This is at the master. Is there anything else I should be looking for? Relay clicks, TV turns on, Vizio lights up and then the logo lighting goes weak.

TV has audio when connected to video source. The backlights simply do not turn on.

                  Thoughts?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                    by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
