    Samsung UN40ES6150FXZA power issues

    Hello everyone,

Someone was selling a Samsung UN40ES6150FXZA pretty cheap because of no power. When you connect the two pin power cable, the tv won't power on at all, you won't even see a light.

I checked the fuse close to the power connector for continuity and it is OK. I got .5v when I connected one of the leads to the fuse, and the other lead to ground.

I also saw a varistor surge absorber (14D751), when I put my DMM on continuity it reads 703 or 705 ohms. I did the tests with the board disconnected and removed from TV. I'm wondering if I'm doing it correctly.

The power board has a number of BN44-00502A (PD46A1_CSM).

    The fuse I tested has a number of T5.0AH / 250V

Amazon has the same power supply with close up pic: http://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-UN40ES...pr_product_top

Has anyone heard about this TV having power issues?

    Thanks

If you have no voltage on either end of the fuse it would imply you may have a bad cord as there isn't much between the plug and the fuse. check continuity of cord to both sides of connector plug. can we get a picture of the under side of the board as well so we can see traces between plug and fuse?

      Thanks for the reply.

I checked the cord and it has continuity. I checked around and found a cable from an ac adapter that I had, and they are the same. Used that other cord, and the tv still won't turn on.

Here are pics of the back of the board.

OK if you have continuity on the cord you must not be getting the correct measurement points. The center two legs of the bridge rectifier should have 120 v ac when you measure across them. The outside legs should have about 170v of DC. If those voltage are present next we want to look at the legs of that big blue capacitor, it should have 170v DC as well. You can use chassis ground when measuring the secondary voltages but you need to use the negative leg of that cap as your ground when measuring the primary.

Probably should check that second fuse for continuity as well.

            Caleb,

Thank you for your help. I'm sorry for the late reply. I got a new job and I have not login to badcaps since then. I did the readings that you told me, and the power supply was OK. I was scratching my head, so what I did is took the power supply to be tested at a TV store. The guy tested it and came up OK, so then I set my eye on the main board.

I searched for the main board online and ordered it from eBay at a very good price. The main board arrived, hook it up, and wala, TV working. So eventhough it had no power, that didn't mean it was the power supply unit like I thought at the beginning

Thank you much for the help (Y)

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                by PantherDave
                Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Samsung The Frame TV no power indicator issues diagnosing the one connect box
                by EazyBone
I got a qn65ls03ta from someone who stated shows no power at all. They said they bought a fully new tv (same one) and tested the one connect box from the old one onto the new one and said it worked.

I have no reason not to believe them, so I crack open the TV and test for voltages on the main board. There are none. I can't get any voltage at all. (Power comes from one connect to Main board then sends power to additional power board for backlights I believe)

While doing some digging I found the connection to the one connect cable ON the main board seems to be missing small...

                Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

                Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
                Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
                Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...
