Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Slang for "electrolytic capacitor" - the tall things all over the board. They are frequent failures in consumer electronics, although it's rare to find a bad one in a Panasonic as they typically well overspec them. Please do not PM me with questions! Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
That cannot be ruled out, possibly the set-up MOSFET could fail causing other problems, though it is likely to be repairable if you eventually source a new SC board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
there are 3 small capacitors in the area I heated and cooled to initiate the fault. would they be the suspect?Comment

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Can you highlight them and possibly include the "REFDES" of the capacitor. This is the text like e.g. C958 printed next to the capacitor on the board. The schematic can be checked to see if they might cause this problem. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I will have to take the back off again to get better pictures of the "REFDES" (wife was getting grouchy about the repair shop in her living room)Comment

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Sears Parts Direct will be sending me this board about $180.00. Will there be any adjustments to make or will changing the board be all that is required?Comment

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
There should be no adjustments required if it is an exact replacement board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
If you decide you want to get rid of the board maybe tw2005 or myself could take it on as an interesting repair, I would be curious as to what the actual fault is (though I'd need a P50S2 or similar to stick it in, so it's probably more suited for tw.)Please do not PM me with questions! I would not need the old board. You are more than welcome to it if you arrange shipping.Comment

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Something you can try for free if you haven't already is to snug down all screws that mount the sc and ss boards. Some of the newer Panasonic plasmas have sc and ss board failures that start with loose mounting screws.LearnerComment

I am still waiting for the board to arrive. I had to re-order from Panasonic, Sears parts direct made a mistake and did not have that part.Comment

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
I got the board yesterday afternoon. It was very easy to install, and the picture is perfect.
Thank everyone so much for your help.

by FZGHello!
I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.
Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.
I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?
Also, what mechanism is this?
Any feedback is appreciated!...05-06-2024, 07:16 AM -
by Bazfletch3Hi all
While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).
I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.
From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however... -
by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by mar1inHi everyone,
I've got this Panasonic TV here with the following symptoms:
* Standby Light is solid RED
* Turning on using the Button on the TV (long press) would change LED to blinking GREEN
* After a couple of seconds, LED is solid GREEN and without picture or sound.
I've tried a couple of things before tearing it apart:
* Resetting using various combinations of powerbutton and volume buttons pressing down while booting.
* Activating Self Check according to service manual using IR Blaster (we have no remote unfortunately)... - Loading...
