Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
. . . knowing this stupid TV, who knows? It's one difficult thing after another with this beast.
Can you tell at all from this pic? Looks to me like there are some screws holding it to the board . . .

Think the HDMI chip is buried under the shield, which I hope comes off with some screws...Leave a comment:

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
. . . I've always heard that the U.S. is notorious for power surges compared to other developed nations. Old infrastructure maybe.
Would you be able to help me identify where it is?Last edited by NihonNoir; 04-20-2014, 02:16 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
The HDMI chip would need to be replaced but that can be hard to get hold of.
Why do US TVs always suffer so badly from power surges? Worst I've seen was blown fuse & bridge rectifier.Leave a comment:

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
. . . well, I read that HDMI is susceptible to power surges, which is likely what happened to this television.
What is the general procedure for repair - a chip on the main board?Leave a comment:

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
Its not unusual for the HDMI controllers to fail--often caused by the implied 'plug/play' of the system.
IMHO--HDMI is Not a Plug/Play system. One or both devices should be completely off and disconnected from the mains supply when the HDMI is installed...Leave a comment:

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
Well, I thought it might be resolution, but this TV is supposed to be 1080p. I did try both 1080i and 720 on the 360, but no go.
The cable works with my newer LED TV. And unfortunately, my 360 is the only HDMI device I have. I'm a little behind the times . . .
Thanks!Leave a comment:

Re: Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
Don't want to sound stupid, but if you have tried all the HDMI inputs with the same cable and the 360 - Maybe try a different cable or a different device?
The 360 may be pumping out a res above what the TV can accept.Leave a comment:

Sanyo DP42849 - HDMI Doesn't Work
Originally, this TV had no power as documented here. I've got it up and running now, but I can't seem to get the HDMI inputs to work. One of the component inputs works fine (I've only tested Component 3 and the HDMIs so far), but all of the HDMI inputs say "No Signal" when I hook my 360 up.
Any ideas? Is there usually a reason the HDMI connections stop working?
Are the newer HDMI cables (what I have) backward compatible with older TVs?
Lots of pics in other thread for reference.
Thanks.Last edited by NihonNoir; 04-20-2014, 10:31 AM.Tags: None

by aliougmI have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.
Connection as below:
Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.
I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port
I replaced all... -
by dumpstertvHi all, I have a Samsung UN65MU6290 TV, and it works fine using its internal smart TV functions but I'm unable to get signal from any of the HDMI inputs. The optical audio out works, and there's one other component jack but I don't have the cables to test that. Checking the TV's diagnostics, the "HDMI SW IC" says "NG," so I assume the main board either needs to be repaired or replaced.
I saw some mail-in repair services, which I'm considering, but my main question is, if I choose to go the replacement route, do I need *exactly* the same board? There are a lot... -
I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.
I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it? -
LG LCD TV picture comes on intermittenly using hdmi port. The sound is on permantly. The hdmi ports looks fine and soldered in securely. The 3.4v coming to the main board is not present(not sure if will affect the hdmi port or where that voltage goes.)The hdmi cable is fine because it works on another tv.The ceramic caps connected to the hdmi controller ic is reading 39 ohms.Could the hdmi controller ic be faulty(feels very warm to touch). The RCA jacks work normally .Thank you in advance for your assistance..

by budwichI lost one of the two hdmi outputs on a yamaha rx-a1050 receiver. Of course, it is the hdmi1 which has the arc capability which was useful. The second output hdmi works OK.
I got an hdmi breakout board which gave me access to the "little guys" in the hdmi. I did some gross DC voltage measurements to ground and found that the Data1 pair (4 and 6) had a lower voltage than the working hdmi.... 1.1v versus 2.9. All others pins seem to be OK. Further when plugged into a display, there is no video but a message on the screen which I assume is the display's status for the...-
