    ceramic capacitor question

    hi all I was wondering if I could use a 22j 6kv ceramic cap instead of a 3 5kv

    thanks in advance

A higher voltage rating is OK but you should match the value unless you fully understand the circuit and know for certain changing it will not cause problems.

the 5 3kv cap is a common fault on the 17ips10 psu from an alba

We may need more info, what's it in, photos etc.

        So you want to use a 22pF 6000V instead of a 3 5kv.

So what is that? A 3 pf 5000volt or are we talking same capcitance 22pf at 3500volts?

I'm going with AGENT24. might be ok for fault finding but i'd put the correct value in there. Obviously higher voltage rating is not an issue.

That 5pF 3KV cap sounds like it is the ballast cap in the inverter output circuit for the CCFL. You should not go with higher value, but should go for higher voltage if it will still fit the footprint.
