    LG 32LX2R No Power

Ive had a punt on another tv I have been given, one that feels just as heavy as an old crt tv. Plugged it in and nothing. a quick look for the model on ebay and a set of 14 caps someones put together to sell for 7.99 + p&p saying stuck in standby or dead fix kit made me just goto cpc and get a bunch of panasonic ones for about 5.50. Is it comon for this power board to have no power output from any of the wires with the faulty caps? None look bulged buts it does look like someone at the factory dotted each on that will probley die , maybe a warranty just run out scam?

Sorry the photo isnt great, the iphone went walkies so hd webcam that doesnt look very HD to me :/ Thanks in advance

    Re: LG 32LX2R No Power

Picture isnt clear enough but a good dusting would have helped.
Try again from just a little further away
Caps are frequently marked in factory testing procedures.

If there is no power led and nothing happens when you switch on the test you should do carefully is firstly the fuse then the volatage at the BIG cap.
    Could be 400vDC

      Re: LG 32LX2R No Power

Ok i gave it a hoover, reason i didnt dust it down was as a kid quite a few year ago now, i remember my uncle saying not to , something to do with changing resistance or sumthing ,he used to repair the massive tv's.

Anyway i retook tryin to hold the cam steadier. I checked the fat cap with power applied and there was no voltage coming from it, the fuse is passing current okay though.

          Re: LG 32LX2R No Power

If you dont have any other boards connected that is all you probably would get.
It will need a signal from the main board to start others.
If you have 5v no need to check mains fuse

can you post a good clear shot of the psu connectors so we can read them you may be able start the psu to check voltages etc with a resistor.

Attached pics of the connections, oddly the old webcam is better than the hd cam at closeups :/

Good picture here, credit to Shopjimmy. Ah, your pictures finally show up.
                http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...871tpt316b.jpg

Power up the board and then list the voltage reading on those connector CN804, 803 when TV is off and when it is ON.

When you say power up the board, all i can do right now is plug a power cord into it, then on the 5VSB in the middle of CN804 is the only one showing any power all at 05.0 the rest are 00.0

I cant actually turn it on, the power button on the tv inst getting a response no lights or anything so thats just with power cord pluged in

                      Re: LG 32LX2R No Power

OK, so the 5VSTBY is OK and supplying the POWER to run the main board but when the power switch is activated the main board does not send the ON/OFF (PS_ON) signal to turn on the main power supplies. So at this point you have to start checking the main board, look to see if it has any fuses, voltage regulators need to be checked, etc.
Which main board do you have in your version of the TV?

OK they have had some poor ones but may be ok on this board - If you get it going I would change them. Next thing might be to check the voltage regulators, there are quite a few on there. To start with perhaps start on the 3 near to where the 5v pin is.
State the part number and state the voltage on each pin with respect to a ground screw
or the plate where it goes.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power

                                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
