Oh and Nicks did send me a USB drive bac with my MB but no information with it. When I plugged into my computers and I checked the file name it was " upgrade_loader.pkg " I dont have a program on my computer to open it, but figure its something for the TV. I was going to call them today and ask about it. Bad thing is though, if its some kind of firmware updater or something, without being able to see anything on screen, I wont be able to do anything with it.Leave a comment:

Forgot what was tried but heres a couple things. Restart your TV by pressing the power button on the remote control until a message appears, the TV will restart. Simple reset, unplug tv from power hold power button on tv down for 30 seconds, wait a minute, plug back in and try it. Maybe try a firmware update if it isnt on the latest.
Tried the unplug and hold manual button down for 30 seconds and plugged back in, and LED lights cycled but no display.
Tried a hard reset with the power and down buttons held, green lights faded in and out on little light below the TV, then let go, little light went to white, LED lights cycled, but no display.Leave a comment:

I suppose some of those tests might not work if you have no display.Leave a comment:

If no joy on those 2, try
a force factory data reset, unplug the AC
power cord. Press and hold both power and –
buttons on the TV, then plug in the AC power
cord. Release both buttons when the
illumination LED blinks in green

Yes correct. Currently, with functional MB installed, when I turn it on the TV clicks, back lights come on, they run thru their lighting phase as what would show on screen ( mean bright dim bright etc ) but no picture. If I leave it like that, the TV shuts off ( guessing due to no source recognized ).Leave a comment:

I'm not sure about this particular tv, but does this exact thing happen every time, on 3 hours then shuts off? I"m pretty sure there are some tvs that WILL shut down/off when there is no communication from the user after a while, like no clicks from the remote. Maybe the sleep timer is set?Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-27-2024, 11:24 AM.Leave a comment:

Guess there isnt much left but the tcon, if all cables and powerboard are good.Leave a comment:

Sorry I'm not exactly sure what it means when that test "fails" I'll defer to Diah for that.Leave a comment:

So I got the board back today and I wont to give the self test another go =since I got the new jumpers in and to be sure I was doing it right.
Disconnected harness between PS and MB.
Disconnected harness from MB to Tcon on Tcon side.
5 7 9 26 all connected.
Connect PS pin 28 to Tcon fuse.
Plugged power wire into wall and I heard the "click" went around to front of TV and nothing happened, screen stayed black. LED strips never came on.
Checked voltage at the 4 connected wires = 3.52
Checked voltage at fuse = 12.57
Am I doing something wrong or what does that tell you Diah? Thank youLeave a comment:

Maybe check all the cables, just check for continuity meter probe on each end, like you would check any wire. Post a picture of the whole back of tv as to see all the boards and how they are connected, my "guess" is a powerboard issue IF all the cables check out ok. Did you have a good look at the under side of the powerboard, obvious blown component, bad solder, might suspect a marginal/bad capacitor, electrolytic caps usually fail first.Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-27-2024, 04:04 AM.Leave a comment:

take out the 2 ribbon cable between T-CON and Panel. upload photos of the ends of each cable pins with high resolution... you may have cut / short at pins contactLeave a comment:

No problem, I'm far from an expert, I trust Diah, not that othermouth. I hate guessing, if it fails that test it might be a panel problem but I think the chances are good it's something else. The issue seems to be intermittent, some guesses are bad/dirty/loose/oxidized connection of one of the cables or a bad cable | bad solder joints on a connector | bad solder joint on bottom of powerboard | maybe just something slightly wrong with powerboard, marginal cap, resistor out of spec. intermittent issues are really tough monkeys.

put it in wall and check what you will have on the screen.."
I tried this back before I sent it in Nicks. This is right about the time someone was impatient with a novice so I said fuck it and sent it in.
Post New Members - please post your introductions here - The other way that it was not responsive was Diah's was in post #14, when plugged in, I could do anything and no self test as you say. (though it should read couldnt do anything). Meaning the screen never even turned on. Ill try it again when I receive the MB back from Nicks.
Since they found nothing wrong with the MB, it was only $30 dollars to test it plus shipping. I probably couldve found someone local, but since they have quite the following on Youtube and many videos to support what they do, I chose that route.
So once I get the MB back in and I run Diahs test in #14, if I get nothing on the screen, does that tell the panel has failed or the Tcon? Or neither really?
Also, nomoresonys Id like to say thanks for your patience.Leave a comment:

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by reformattJust had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".
It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...07-31-2025, 08:37 PM -
by ChrissygizmoHello again everyone,
This is my latest mission, to try getting this Sony tv back to normal working order…
I've only just got it today, when you power it up everything is as should be, in fact it works perfectly for a few minutes then the screen starts getting horizontal lines on & eventually the full screen goes back, I will upload photos of the problem & also some photos of the board etc. You might notice that I'm busy trying the tape method, I'm not sure exactly where the clock lines are so I'm just guessing & hoping for the best lol . I've already tried... -
by zukdjA new main board and power supply was installed on my TV last night, purchased the parts at ShopJimmy. I had no power before installing both parts. Now the TV powers on and I hear music as it cycles through a white-red-green-blue screen. I was thinking it may be a firmware mismatch with the parts however I am skeptical as to plugging in a USB stick with the newest firmware on it since I cannot do any user interaction since all I see is colors on the screen, will the firmware start and complete on its own once the USB is inserted or does it require user input? Someone told me it is in Purity Check...

by Adam RussWeird issue with this tv. Was streaming to the from a computer when it stopped working and the screen went black. Ever since then there has been. o image. Just a black screen. The audio works and yhe backlights do come on when it's powered on, it's just a black image. It presented like a backlight issue. So I finally got around to getting new backlights and a backlight tester. All of them test the same as the good backlights with the same voltages. There are no blinking lights. Just the white led at startup and when buttons on the remote are pressed signaling it's receiving from the remote....
