    Vizio E371VL Dead Lightning

Well the set was dead. Power Supply was a 0500-412-1020 No Orange Vizio label on front, No 5vdc stby voltage. My first step was to find a Service Manual, found one but no schematic was included. So I checked all the diodes, transistors, transformers and caps in the HOT section. Had 165 vdc output on the Bridge Rectifier no 380v from the Boost circuit. I did not have any of the variations in the SMD parts normally associated with it, but I did have a Q0465R Resonant Power IC. (U101) I happen to have one in new spare parts kit, so I put it in. Then the power supply developed 5v stby was tested, then I put the board back in the set and it all came bac to life.
I put this post because I saw alot of post about EEPROMs and other parts but none with this part for this model tv or power supply. I thought it might help others who do a search when trouble shooting sets that use this power supply.

Great work, you are lucky that the surge did not go through the HDMI ports which I seem to see lots of them lately.

LTank I am greatful for your post. I moved my TV to a different plug for a video game tournament and didnt plug it up to a surge protector, lucky me that night there was a storm and the lights went out, when they came back on I believe the power supply was blown. Or at least that is what I gather from all of the research I have done on different forums. Is this similar to what happened with you?? Is this something that a person with limited knowledge of electronics could fix themselves???

It has a screw to a heat sink on power supply. Remove screw then tin the tip of soldering iron to help transfer the heat. Get some solderwick then put wick on solder joints then use iron to heat the wick. You should see the old solder wick up into the braid. Be careful
Not to damage the traces. That part I got from mouser $1.65 . It has 5 leads that need to be soldered. Look at U-Tube to see how to use wick to unsolder and to resolder. Keep part in protectve antistatic bag then ground yourself prior to soldering.

In my case there was no 5vdc standby voltage. If you have it with chassis ground reference this will not fix your set. You have other problems
