Hello all! I have a Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead. I opened it up and found only 1 cap that looked visually bad and replaced it with a good low ESR cap (see pic) Now when I plug it in I hear the click and the light on front is green then I go to turn it on and it turns to red and flashed 7 times over and over again. I looked on the forum before posting this and found a similar problem however my power board does not look the same as what he had. I have a picture of the same board I have. Not sure if I need to start pulling caps and checking or what.

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
I adjusted all the picture setting and got a little better but still there. I ran HDMI from my computer to it and put a blue screen on and as you can see from the picture on the right the little white dots. The wavy lines on the left are not actually there must be my camera making them.Comment

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
You need to locate the VSET voltage on the power supply and drop it by around 10 to 20V.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
Vset is different from Vs. Is there a pin marked Vset on the connections going off to the X- and Y-main boards (the right and left boards respectively.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
Vset needs to be dropped by about 10 to 20V. Not around 10 to 20V. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Vset is normally around the 200V range, that is absolutely fine. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

OK, may need to adjust Yrr and Yfr on Y-main board... can you supply a photo of that board? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
Ok looks like half the tv needs to come apart so before I do that are you pretty sure this will fix it? with all the stuff coming off to get at it I don't think I will be able to power it on after I get down to it.Comment

Never sure with sparklies, unfortunately. They cannot always be fixed.
It would need to be powered on while you adjust it to observe the image. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
You would need to try adjusting the points marked Y-RR and Y-FR on the board. First try Y-FR. If you go too far the sparklies will get worse so when you see this, reverse direction. If that fails, try Y-RR.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 42PF9631D/37 Plasma dead
WTF??? Got a light and looked real good at board and seen 3 more caps bulged so thought great had to be the problem so took board out and replaced caps and put back in then went to fire up and back to the same problem in my first post. Clicks when plugged in green light then turn on and light goes to red and blinks 7 times over and over. I looked everything over and all wires back on and looks good.Comment

UPDATE: ok, pulled pc and went through some caps again and found another bad one so replaced it and back up again however adjusting the Y-FR and the Y-RR only made it worse never any better. sparkles look green to me.Comment

by badcappoHello, got a ST50 plasma TV for repair. No signs of life, not even blink codes. Opened it up to check the power supply, type MPF6914. Apparent issues from visual detection and measuring for shorts:
Diode type G972s6 - D101 with a short
Mosfet 06N90E - Q301 shorted
Fuse T5AH 250V - F103 blown
Diode D301 shorted
Relay DG1U-17VDC II - RL001 blown
I have not found a circuit diagram. Maybe someone here already dealt with a similar issue? Thanks for tips where else to check 😀... -
by Super360Hi everyone I have this plasma here that has no standby light and is completely dead. I opened it up to see extremely dirty and dusty to which I cleaned but made no difference. So I checked all fuses good. I checked the standby voltage 5 volts good. Then I did that plasma control board test by shorting the pins(THANKS 2 TVTIMMY
) and the tv actually turned on and made a sound. Does this mean I need a new motherboard?...

by RubenlilyHey,
I gave up on my last TV and got a new one to try.
Only vertical lines. Sound is OK. Screen is black with a few white lines until I change channel, then these colors gradually starts filling up the screen.
Is this fixable in any way or should I just give up on this one too?... - Loading...
