Philips 50PUS6503 - dead panel? Picture

    Hey,

I gave up on my last TV and got a new one to try.

Only vertical lines. Sound is OK. Screen is black with a few white lines until I change channel, then these colors gradually starts filling up the screen.

Is this fixable in any way or should I just give up on this one too?

Ok so I've checked all the voltage measures. V12, VGL etc and I haven't found anything weird except VGL that was -10V.

I also found that this red circled part was extremely hot.

So I should check this IC right? So I need the datasheet so I can check every pin. Is this correct so far? If so, how do I find it?

After disconnecting the cable going from mainboard to t-con, the IC is not heating up which mean the panel has the problems... Right? Please stop me if this is unfixable... I'm putting alot of energy into this lol.

The problem may be in the display bars, take a high-quality photo of these two bars.

Hey! Thanks. I did, I checked every C0F carefully and didn't see any damage. Thought I might find something burned out. But I did fint something else. I don't know if these might be the problem but they looked a bit messed up compared to the other components.

I'm talking about R086 and R075. I think they looked a bit damaged, could that be the case? I believe they're labeled "100".

I'm trying to test them and I get like 1.8-2.0 ohms but I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly. Power unplugged and just one stick on each side. They look bloated if they're supposed to look like the others lol.

Yes, they burned out due to TVS diodes, take a photo of these strips in full.

I'll post pictures tomorrow of the full strips. But you're saying if I remove a diode or two it might get restored to normal condition?

No way, it's exactly the same resistors!!!!! Wow. I need to find some 10 ohm resistors then to place there. It's not 100 ohms right?

                      Did I fuck up here?

I think my soldering iron is bad or that I'm bad. Keep getting the solder stuck on the iron. Tried tinning and cleaning and using the paste but these didn't come off so easily as they probably should have.

Anyways. As you can see in the first picture here, I'm missing some silver part. Where the black part is... Did I fuck up bad or is that just dirt/dust?

Should I try to clean up before putting on the resistors? I don't want to damage anything and the risk is bigger the more I solder...

Not enough skill to be performing this.

You ripped at least two pads, one for the resistor and one for the diode, it's not the end, but it will make it more difficult and more destructive, which is bad to do on a fragile board as this one.

The resistor may lead to C010 which is very direct, the diode may be linked to that pad right where the pin should be, need to clean it up with alcohol to see properly.

Try these two threads...sounds like same issue that myself and ruckusman had.

Watch out for those solder drops you can see in the picture, clean the diode pads right down with iso, get rid of any excess solder with wick and iso.

Good luck, as we know the feeling.

Yes, first remove the remaining flux, rosin with an ear stick moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

I used some alcohol and tried to gently clean it up. Did I fuck up too much to save this?

If I broke the diod pad it shouldn't be an issue since I won't be putting anything back there right? But the resistor pad?

Thanks. I don't have any wick but I should get some I've learned. I shouldn't touch the drops that's already there right? Just to be more careful going forward.

The only sensed thing you can do is to set aside this project for a quite long time in the meantime you take confidence with delicate smd soldering techniques, the pads are fucked so a long jumpering is required, the sentence that you are not replacing the diodes is the meter to see how you aren't able to do a good repair.. reselling dirt unstable things is not a good presentation ticket.. u will encounter customers returning back claiming a bad purchase..

All these spots of solder won't help either
