Hi there was just wondering if someonw could point me in the right direction of repair

Yesterday I got a Sony Bravia KDL-46W2000 for that was being sold as faulty due to a storm surge and now its got the 3 blinking light fault which ive read is something on the power board do you have any ideas where to begin ?

Service manual can be your friend:

(wait 30 seconds for "get download" to appear)

Also has main board & power board schematics.

3 blink code (page 8): UNREG10.5V or PANEL5V trouble. DCALERT1.

So check those outputs from PSU.

Tested the outputs and they have 0 volts?

The UNREG10.5V is measuring 0V? (Pin 7 and 8 of CN6200)

Check pin 2 CN6202 for POWER ON signal.

hi ive connected it all again but when you put the power cable in theres a click then theres a sizzling like noise from the red area in the picture then it clicks again and the 3 blinking lights start

could the fault be the sizzling like noise in the red area?

Sizzling noise if accompanied by smoke/burning/fire/bad smell/destruction: can be a fault

Otherwise, power boards can make a variety of different sounds due to how they work (look up "coil noise") and it's hard to tell if any particular one is a problem or not, so it's good to just go by what you know, checking voltages, tracing back the fault, etc.

Of course, if you had another PSU, and it did NOT make that noise, then you could use that as a reference point, but if you can't do that then there's not much information that provides.

What DC voltage do you get at the main filter caps 180uF 450VDC C6006, C6008 when you hear the relay click on? Measure it RIGHT AT THE TWO LEGS OF THE CAP C6006 or C6008.
The section you redlined is the PFC Voltage booster section.
More likely you also do not have the 18v, 15, or 33V which are generated by the same transformer.

The section you redlined is the PFC Voltage booster section.
More likely you also do not have the 18v, 15, or 33V which are generated by the same transformer.

I get 326v on both

So it does not boost up to about 400V before 3 blinks occurs?

K, and you have nothing on UNREG10.5V pin? 0V? Or low voltage? Or too much? Please check before 3 blink occurs.

Getting 11.6v now on unreg 10.5

OK, do you see any pins marked PANEL5V? What do they measure?

No can't see any pins with panel 5v

OK looked it up and PANEL5V is generated by main board.
The UNREG10.5V check is an under volt detect. So I think UNREG10.5V is OK at 11.6V, it is unregulated after all.

Please post a picture of the main board(s)
