    Panasonic Plasma TH-42PZ77U 12 Blinks

This was the first time I repaired a 12 Bilinks Panasonic TV, symptoms: PLug in the wall, two clicks, after a while then one click. Pressed power button in the TV or in the remote control, heard click, but gave 12 blinks, not power on, the cooling fans ran a second or two, then stopped.

The error code in the service manual mentions this is the audio processor propblem, check the H board.

What I tried was to disconntect both speakers, no change. Disconnect the cable to the side input board, no changes. Disconnect the power cables from power supply to the H board, gave 10 blinks.

I suspected the H Board TNPA4360 failed, ordered one and replaced it, unluckily, the problem is still the same. I could see the LED of the optical output jack lite up then off as the tv shut off.

Anyone experienced the 12 blinks for Panasonic Plasma?

If you can trace where the 12 blink signal is coming from... you might be able to find the source.

Page 75 SOUND_SOS senses SOUND+15V and AMP FAULT. If SOUND+15V goes LOW, then a fault will be signalled.

If TP2037 on H board goes HIGH (+15V) the sound has a fault.
This signal appears on pin 39 of connector H3 too.

I checked the TP2037, 2.67V, and I installed back my original board, is 2.71V. Not sure if voltage is high or low, from Tom66's comment, 15V is high, so 2.67 is low.
I also checked the voltage from the power supply, it's 15.75v, normal.
Is it possible two boards fault at the same part ? or the fault I from other boards?

2.7V would be high enough to trigger it. What you can try is take a 100 ohm resistor to ground and force SOUND SOS low. Unplug speakers while you do this. Check if there are further abnormalities.

I tried to short the check point with a 100ohm resistor, still not power on, but gave 1 blink, mainboard problem?
I accidently unplug the connector from the mainboard to the side input board, the tv power on and works! (I think this was the video/audio input board shorted, no time to check it).
But unfortunately this TV has another big issue: There are 5 vertical bars on the lower of the screen, and there are many very thin vertical lines, most lines on the lower screen, some on the upper screen.
I have no mood to go ahead to fix it, the 4 of the C buffer boards are bad, or even the panel is bad.

Big bars: if there is NOTHING in those bars, it is quite likely that they are just loose connections or bad C board. But if there is something in them, then it can be a bad plasma panel.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

              Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic P50VT20B Plasma 12 Blinks, Power Supply or A-Board?
              by Biruslapio
Hello, I've had this TV for 3 years, 2 years ago it stopped working signaling 12 Blinks, SOUND_SOS according to the service manual.

It has no VSUS or VDAT, and P15V has 1.0V instead, the same 15V goes to A board. F15V is ok and other main voltage rails.

It seems the power supply is defective, since unplugging D20 ribbon cable that goes from D-board to SC-board makes the behavior change, the TV stays on, there's no image nor VSUS, but 15V reads 2.4V, high enough to not trip the SOS 12 blinks, so it stays on, fans do not spin but I left it 2 hours, green led lit up...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
              by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

              After all of...
