    Sony KDL-40D3000 - bad T-con?

    Hi there,

i have a problem with my Sony KDL-40D3000.
    See the attatchment.

After a few minutes everything is ok. Is it a bad t-con board? What to do?

    Greetings

I'm thinking more of a bad panel. Try flexing the tv.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

definitely bad panel, I've had poor luck trying to fix these issues (gate driver tab bond fault)

though......you can try a temp repair on the tab bond can you not?
maybe not this model, though i have done this before, also some guides on youtube. search for bond repair.i think its mostly samsung that have this fault.its worth a go if its heading for the bin. i wedged some sponge between the tab and the panel frame closing it and screwing in place, its been working in my room fine for a few months.

I have a Sony KDL-40V3000 in the kids bedroom, it had this issue where it would stay like this no matter how long it was on for or for any amount of twisting, so I removed an old thermal pad from a busted T-con card, cut it in to strips and used it to apply pressure to the area where the ribbon cable is bonded to the LCD screen. The Tv is certainly better now but sometimes at the start it will still do as yours does and might require some twisting to bring it back but once warmed up and done it stays firm, it seems you can't get it perfect but for the kids it's fine and they love it anyway, it's a good picture actually.

I have one Toshiba 37" FHD which will not stay fixed... side tab bonds failed.

There are better videos on how to do it than Mr cough, I would also suggest you don't use anything sticky on the area I described earlier, if you do it's highly likely that you will make the issue worse, if not irreparable, if you need to adjust it and this you may have to. Good luck and let it be fun.

You can try that, but it usually only works when the whole picture or half is affected by the fault.
The fault isn't on the top bonds with this problem, at least in my experience. It's with the side bonds.

                      hi, I am newbie here.
I need an advice from you guys.
I have Sony KDL-40V3000. 5 blinks error code repeatedly with pause.
According to service manual. it is tcon error.
When I checked tcon board, fuse is open.
I shorted this fuse by a strand of wire, when TV is ON, smoked comes out from tcon board.
I will try to order/buy tcon board, but my question is, is the tcon only the problem? how could I know if panel is OK?
Based on the service manual, there are also error codes for Panel temp and Balancer (Panel) error. Is the standby blink code could detect panel problem also if you have defective tcon? please help. sorry I used this thread coz cant post new one.

Remove the ribbon cables that connect to the panel. Replace the fuse and see if itll blow when its not connected to the panel.

If it still blows then its probably a bad tcon board. If not then the panel is shorting it.

                            Hi Glitcher,
I have no fuse part, so I used again a strand of wire.
I tried to short the fuse using a strand of wire.
Removed ribbon cable that connects to the panel.
Turned ON tv, no smoke, no Error blinks, power LED in Green, backlight lamp is ON, no picture.
Turned OFF tv, put the ribbon cables.
Turned ON tv, no smoke, no Error blinks, power LED in Green, backlight lamp is ON, no picture.
                            I put antenna.
Turned ON tv, no smoke, no Error blinks, power LED in Green, backlight lamp is ON, no picture. With sounds (local channel).

                            Here are my questions:
                            1. Is Sony diagnosis (error blink) is checking only TCON input ckt, no output checking?
                            2. Why no error code if I disconnect ribbon cables? What for are the balancer (panel error) code?
                            3. Is the tcon is still ok? it smoked yesterday.
                            4. what could be the next step to do?
                            5. Is it tcon or panel issue?

                            Thank you for helping.
