    Toshiba 27WLT56B Dead No Power

I was given another telly to have a poke around at, its nothing special and just something id let my mum have in her bedroom if it got fired back up again.

They guy who gave it me says the fuse in the plug blew, so he changed it and it worked for around 12 hours before being dead and now nothing happens at all when plugged in, no lights, no buzzing no nothing.

Ive taken it apart and its like looking into an old crt tv with boards and wires everywhere. However on the main power board 17PW15-8 the fuse is still intact, as is the fuse on the power cord board, but there is 4 bulging caps (C863, C806, C818 and C860)

Ive seen kits for other caps for sale but not these ones so i was wondering if anyone knows what other parts i should check ?

Ive marked the caps on the photo below with red arrows

Re: Toshiba 27WLT56B Dead No Power

    Update.

Ive been a bit silly, I took it on the guys word he had changed the fuse in the power cord, im assuming that after it was on for 12 hours after the fuse first blew, and then blew again he took it out and didnt replace it, as just a quick thought to check the plug fuse, there wasnt one in there!

Popped in a 5amp plug fuse and it powered up! Picture is fine sounds working etc

So, i just see the issue of the bad caps that are top bulging now, should i just replace them or should i replace anything else as a matter of good measure?

    Overall im feeling good now

      Good fix - fuse eh!

You should replace at least any caps of the same make/series/value as those
      that show signs of bulging.

You need to use low esr caps - Not from Maplins and some ebay outlets are a bit dodgy.
I think cpc.plc still have a no postage no min order offer on so currently suggesting Panasonic FR FM and FC in that order or nichicon or rubycon equivalents from there. Most times I notice you now have to order a min imum of 5 of each cap but should work out too much for a 27in tv

Sorry would have edited but you are on line so separate post
It is important to check the physical size as well as uf & voltage - we have seen people order caps that are to wide to fit.

CPC don't post dead tree catalogues. I've ordered from them and Farnell and never got any more than an order invoice in paper.

I've had one cpc catalogue in the year i've been ordering from them

if you continue to recieve them and crap from them, goto facebook or twitter and ask them to remove you from there mailing list

(I know some people mightent use facebook or twitter but it's the quickest and easiest way of asking questions with them)

I get about 4 or 5 a week already from them, everything from tools to computers to random junk, all go to the furnace anyway free fuel and free tv's

Just ordered them now, came to a massive £2.48 mix of Panasonic and Rubycon

I've never got one. I guess I'll keep an eye out for one, if I do find one it'll make some useful packaging material for posting off boards!

Well I turn down the HUGE catalogue 3600 pages or so as they used to send them by post and when your not in all you get is a postcard saying collect it 20 mile or so round trip.
Obviously doesnt say what it is - just a parcel so you trail out to get it.
HEHEHEHE Cpc is perhaps half a mile from my house!!

I do get the inserts and they can be quite useful as I often find they have a different catalogue number on the insert offers but if you search on line you just get to see the
                      full price item.

TRY this IP66 twin 13A socket
                      then try PL1156303
Bit naughty if you ask me.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

Power supply Manson NTP-5561 (5661) LCD controller dead - PIC18F87K90 HEX dump required
                            by Andreas_de
                            Hello!

i got a damaged Manson NTP-5561 (60V, 1,6A DC output) and and the main issue is that the controler IC for the LCD display has a short. The controler IC PIC18F87K90 is mounted on the back of the back of the LCD. Vss-Vdd = 3 Ohm. The 5V and 3,3V power line was killed as well, but that is not a problem. A new LDO 3,3V and 5V 7805 is already ordered.
Replacing the PIC18F87K90 is necessary but that makes no sense without having the HEX dump of the new controler.

Does anybody have such a power supply and could do a HEX dump of the Flash and EEPROM memory?

I gotten a Carver CM-1090 amplifier from a friend who has kept it in storage for decades. Opened it up, thick layer of dust cumulated everywhere. Vacuumed it semi-cleaned, and blown off as much as possible the remaining dust. This is a 220V version.

On initial powered up with nothing connected - it works with all the lights and button indicator lit up as pressed, etc. I then powered off, connected a CD player into the CD RCA input and powered it on. It seemed to work for a short while and when I turned the volume up and down to see the the VUs works, the power started to clicked off...
