on these a dead short on the Vsus at power up does not produce a blink but a solid led.

It is possible to have a fault yet no codes as well, I've managed to create that situation on my TV.

    section 6 are the instructions.

I had the same exact problem. I had a solid red light as well. I had a short(s) on the SN board. I was told before I found out the problem, that a solid red light could most definitely be a shorted component (as was in my case), but that the screen cannot show any signs of a picture or any dimm for that matter. Also, the Tv is non-functionable. (Remote and all buttons do nothing).

      Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues

The 1st thing I was told when I had a solid red LED light (with no picture at all and no TV or remote functions) was to troubleshoot to get a blinking light.

      1. I held down the power botton (on TV) for 10 seconds, let go and got a 14 blink code.

      2. I disconnected the SN board from the power supply, powered the TV and I got a 7 blink code.

That let me know I have a problem with the SN board. Which I did.

I don't know if it's the A-board or not, but this kid shows his problem with his A-Board and the symptoms.

It looks like his TV was working normally, but with some colored lines during normal viewing.

I'm not quite sure what your point is. I'm referring purely to the display on Ccalxr's TV.

That video, most definitely A board without a doubt, as far as this one goes I'm thinking Sn board and maybe the buffer section has failed but not enough to shut it down, not yet at least.

By trying the service mode and mirror if what is being displayed flips then you could start thinking A board because that would potentially prove the lower section of the buffers are working and the a is generating garbage.

If it remains unchanged then it would be a panel drive issue I reckon.

Always good to confirm the voltages are correct too but usually if they were out enough that would trip an SOS.

True. He is getting a solid red LED light, which could be a short on the Vsus.

I was just trying to add that in my case that's exactly what my problem was, but I had no picture at all (completely black) and no TV functions at all (no buttons worked on TV or remote).

He does have something on display, not sure if his TV functions at all though.

I doubt he has a shorted Vsus (short on SN board) like I had. That's all I was trying to say.

He has sound so I expect he'll have control of the TV, it's a little unusual what he has, that's what i enjoy about these forums. Every once in a while you see something different which is great for learning.

Ccalxr definitely does not have a shorted Vsus or he'd be in the same boat as you. the TV is running without SOS codes being generated. The led is solid when it's running too but for you the giveaway was you had no control and then the forced SOS14.

It'd be a tough call to suggest that repair kit for this unless you find some shorted transistors or at least the 30f131.

Yeah, I was just trying to limit his problem by excluding what my problem was

It's the only troubleshooting I know, the ones I have already done.

I'm not sure if a faulty IC on the SN board can go without it shorting or giving an error code. It seems unlikely given the strict nature to trigger a locked mode on this TV model.

I know on older Plasma sets, you could troubleshoot until the thing blew up, but not on the newer Panasonics.

Can't wait to see how it ends, but for an example of a bad ic yet on and no blinks, the octal buffer IC that the data signals pass though. I've had one produce SOS7 and a primed panel with sound no blinks. That I discovered rebuilding the Sc for my Tv. I was scavanging the parts from other boards otherwise I would have no idea except i produced those results myself.

It was a good learning experience and the joys of component level.

Nice. What part of Australia are you located? I really enjoy Tennis and the AO is my favorite to watch. I never travel, but if I did, my first trip would be to Melbourne for the Open.

My next step would be pull out the P2 and P11 connectors on the Power Supply, power up the TV and see if you get a blinking light.
I can turn the tv on and off with the remote. with P2 and P11 unplugged it throws 7 blinks. It also throws 7 blinks with SN2 and SN20 unplugged. Holding down the power button for 10 sec does not produce any blink codes.

yeah tw2005, i was thinking the buffer chips as well just because the lines in the tv are inside of horizontal bar across the tv that do move from the top of the screen to the middle to the bottom... when the tv is first turned on, the top portion of the screen shows up first, just like if it were working normally you know how the channel number and time and channel info show up in that grey bar then it disappears? then the lines move to the center of the screen as if it were going to regular picture. does that make sense?

In my very inexperienced opinion, if your new SN board doesn't work, it is a bad panel.

With the SN2 unplugged I got 7 blinks as well.

However, with the SN2 and SN20 unplugged, I got an 8 blink code. I think you should get something other than 7 blinks (I think 6 or 8) if the SN board is at fault.

I doubt it's the SN board at this point. It's either the A or Panel IMO. More likely the Panel. That looks messed up in the video. If it was the A-board, I don't think it would be that messed up.

I'm just trying to give you my honest inexperienced opinion. I'm in no way a professional or authority like many others on this forum. I am probably wrong, but I do like to help if I have an idea.

i agree with you there. because of my odd ball situation with this tv i ordered the new board just because i figured it was worth shot. i do agree that if not then its likely the panel but with these tv's even a faulty panel would make it kick a blink code. well ill know in a couple of days anyway.

You guys are really helpful and I appreciate it as you dope out this problem. I have something similar but I show a dead short to ground on the SN board. I have no picture, no sound and a solid red light. When I disconnect the SN, I get seven flashes. The diagnostic manual leads me to replacing or fixing the SN board. Any thoughts?

Ok, so I got the new board in (its actually a refurb board) and now when I turn the tv on it does nothing. the red light on front comes on and stays on, no blinks. nothing shows up on the screen at all. I am not able to turn it off though. With the original board I was able to turn the tv on and off but had the lines all over the screen. Any ideas? This is odd

So we're talking about a SN replacement? Sounds like it could be dud. Check the new board at SN2 for dead short. Solid LED not turning on or blinks sounds like the condition with shorted Vsus at startup.

Or you could disconnect this new board and see if you regain control of the TV and blink codes which may be SOS8 with the SN removed.

With your new SN board, you are getting the exact symptoms I had. You most likely have a short somewhere on the SN board. In my case it was 4 mosfets.

You most likely recieved a faulty board and not the cause of some other board shorting it out, because your old one fires up fine.

I would try to get a refund or send it back.

It seems your 1st SN board has no shorts, but possibly a faulty IC buffer or the problem is not the SN board at all, but an A-board or panel problem.

I'm looking to upgrade several 8GB 820-00850 boards to 16GB or 32GB for personal use. I am curious what the best practice and process is for sourcing new replacement chips, and what vendor(s) you guys prefer? Another question is, how do I find compatible chips and their corresponding part/model numbers? For example, in the 820-00850 schematic, the DDR chip U2600 model listed (EDFB232A1MA) corresponds to 1x32GB chip. Of course, I would need 4x8GB chips to replace the 4x2GB chips currently on the board. How do I find compatible 8GB chips? Is it as simple as searching "BGA178 8GB 2133"...

                                            Hello Everyone,

My name is Haris and, I am new to the forum. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Little back story on me and the issues that we are dealing with...
I work on a fleet that uses Panasonic CF-20s we have about 65 of them. Up until the beginning of the year they all had warranty so all the repairs were covered. Fast-forward to now and all of the units are out of warranty and it can't be extended past this point. We don't have the budget this year to replace them, so we will be stuck trying to fix any issues that may come up.

                                            Hi all

I have a Panasonic TH-65AX800A that turns on for about 2 seconds and then turns itself off.

I got it like this hoping it was just a bad cap and an easy fix.

I have pulled the power board and cannot see any obvious capacitor damage.

Is there any other likely causes? Anything else I should check for?

                                            The power board is
                                            TNPA5937 2P
with an additional silver sticker saying

                                            TNPA5937DA
                                            V1434

I have tracked down another power supply which has the markings

                                            Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.
For my passion for technology I'm now collecting several...

Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
