Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
tw2005, yes I did. I was able to get a few of the mosfets to "beep" using the digital meter that I have, however on the bad board, I was able to get those same mosfets in the same locations to beep as well. The difference is, on the bad board, there were two extra mosfets (30F131) that beeped, that didnt beep on my original board. I have another panasonic board (i know its good) from another tv with the same mosfets that are used on the TNPA5349 board and when I tested them with the meter, they beeped as well. This leads me to believe I dont...

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
is there a way to test the buffer ic's on the sn board? i have a feeling that they are causing the problem.

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
yes, i put the old SN board back in which brought it back to the original problem with the lines on the screen.
I did get a full refund on the bad SN board and didnt even have to pay for return shipping.
Same with the new A board.
I understand that im supposed to get blinks if the SN is shorted but really I should be getting blinks no matter what. A problem in the panel should be forcing a blink code. The tv should not be able to turn on with this issue without forcing a blink code, which is why this problem...

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
just a quick update. bought a new A board just to see if it was that and no... same thing. so it has to be the sn board or the panel. right now im having a hard time finding a new sn board

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
Ok, so I got the new board in (its actually a refurb board) and now when I turn the tv on it does nothing. the red light on front comes on and stays on, no blinks. nothing shows up on the screen at all. I am not able to turn it off though. With the original board I was able to turn the tv on and off but had the lines all over the screen. Any ideas? This is odd

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
i agree with you there. because of my odd ball situation with this tv i ordered the new board just because i figured it was worth shot. i do agree that if not then its likely the panel but with these tv's even a faulty panel would make it kick a blink code. well ill know in a couple of days anyway.

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
yeah tw2005, i was thinking the buffer chips as well just because the lines in the tv are inside of horizontal bar across the tv that do move from the top of the screen to the middle to the bottom... when the tv is first turned on, the top portion of the screen shows up first, just like if it were working normally you know how the channel number and time and channel info show up in that grey bar then it disappears? then the lines move to the center of the screen as if it were going to regular picture. does that make sense?...

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
I can turn the tv on and off with the remote. with P2 and P11 unplugged it throws 7 blinks. It also throws 7 blinks with SN2 and SN20 unplugged. Holding down the power button for 10 sec does not produce any blink codes....

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
i tried that. same result. i wonder if there could be an issue with the a-board as well since its not producing a blink code.

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
no but when i have the cable box hooked up, i get sound. like i said, ive never dealt with a panasonic plasma that behaved like this. i thought a board at first but even a faulty a board will trigger a blink

Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues
yes i agree. i have not been able to find anyone else with a problem similar to mine, but its the only think i can think of. all pany's are supposed to throw a blink code when any board shorts, even the panel. this is bizarre.
