  • Re: Panasonic TC-P42S30 issues

Speaking of the ribbon cable could someone help me out with removing my board. I have the repair parts and am trying to get the board out but I'm having difficulty with the ribbon cables. I have flipped up the bar on the connectors and given a gentle tug on the ribbons but they don't seem to move. What am I missing?

    Help!!!! Please.

Wow, that is great information. The repair kit I found includes 5 mosfets (IGBTs) two diodes an IC and one more transistor of some kind. Wish I knew which comopnents were bad so I could avoid all that soldering.

    Thanks again!!!!

You guys are really helpful and I appreciate it as you dope out this problem. I have something similar but I show a dead short to ground on the SN board. I have no picture, no sound and a solid red light. When I disconnect the SN, I get seven flashes. The diagnostic manual leads me to replacing or fixing the SN board. Any thoughts?

Thanks I have an email into them to confirm the application of their kit to my problem.

One other question is whether you found a source for these parts. If you have, I would appreciate it if you would forward the location.

I'm experiencing a problem with the same set. I traced it down to the SN (some call it SC) board and find a short to ground on it's power connection. The boards are nowhere to be found so I am going to attempt a board level repair. Had the same questions about how to check the mosfets. Does anyone know if you can check them with them installed on the board or do they have to be removed?

So I did the tests and yes, the SC board is dead shorted to ground. These boards don't look to be available anywhere, probably because they fail so often. I have seen the repair kits around but think that I will go with the 30f131 first. Seen other places where it has been identified as the culprit.

By the way, with the SC disconnected, the red light blinks 7 times. I think that pretty much confirms at least that it's the SC board.

    Thanks again

  • Panasonic Plasma No Picture

Good Day, I have a 42 inch Panasonic TC P42S30. Last night we lost the entire picture and sound. The red power light stays on solid and does not blink. I have removed the back cover and there is no evidence of burnt components. There is definitely a signal and I cannot access the menu or setup screen so I am sure the picture is dead. I'm not an expert in these repairs but have a good electrical working knowledge and most of the necessary tools.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello all, I am a 50 year old electrical engineer that fixes pretty much anything that breaks. I don't do it as a business but for myself and friends. From time to time I need guidance because I am not an expert. My expertise is actually industrial controls and at the application level. I have all of the basic tools but will need help from time to time. Hoping you all have patience and that I might contribute something over time.
