    LG 26LG3000 Sound, frozen picture

Hi guys! I'm hoping someone can help me out here.

I was given my Dad's old LCD TV a short while back. When I finally started using it, when first turned on the screen would just go grey then start to show a picture then freeze and go grey but after a short while it would warm up and would work fine.

I recently started using it a little more often and the first few days it went as described, taking up to 30 minutes to warm up.

This evening I turned it on and left it for a while expecting it to warm up after the half hour, however now I just have a bunch of lines which change colour as the programme plays out. I have sound, I am able to use the remote ad volume and even change channel, just cannot see a picture anymore.
I'll try to add a picture I took this evening to this thread.
Any help would be gratefully received!

Hi, I don't own any soldering equipment, I'm a techie novice! I just wondered if it's worth fixing it at all and how easy it will be.

Once I have the pics I will post them up.

Thanks for your prompt reply by the way!

        I'd say tab bonds.

I've had good success with fixing these. I use a bit of foam pad (from kitchen scrubbers) cut up and wrapped in duct tape, to apply pressure on the tab bond.

Ok that sounds good, is there a video showing how you did this at all?

Pics update of the circuits. I don't have a clue what I'm looking at here!!

          Thanks again!

Here's same panel but in a different TV I worked on. First, please confirm the LCD panel is made by Chi Mei Optoelectronics and is of model V260B1. To find out if this is the case, check the internal metal casing for a sticker with such markings on it. It looks like this:

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMo3NBGLwH0 (about 1 minute in has repair process)

Fault symptom varies but the original light grey screen sounds like what your TV had. I've had ones that clear in 5 mins and others which take 30 mins.

Well, since I've taken it apart and put it back together again it's working fine with a gentle squeeze either side of the TV! Definitely not the board I'm guessing!

I'll check back here if that stops working (too many other things to do) but I really appreciate all your help so far. This is such a great forum!

My sets usually worked if you gently twisted the frame, but it never lasted. Permanent fix is tab shim. But it definitely sounds like you have such a fault.
