My problem was intermittent too and that TV has been fine for nearly a year now. Good luck.

2007 and 2008 PDP from Panasonic are similar but 2007 has upper/lower address drives, 2008 has only lower address drives.
So I should be ok to close up the back and bring it back over to my dad's? Hopefully that wire won't come loose again!!!

No. You need to reseat that cable both ends. Also I'd put 4 screws in for a first test before full assembly.

GRRRRR!!! Back to a split screen. I will try to figure out how to get to the other side of that cable later. Taking a break for now.

You can take the assembly of input boards off the frame to expose D board underneath.

Did that but when I tried pushing the connector back on the D board the connector on the board came loose. It's still connected to the board but now it flops around. I still have the same result of a split screen. Did I damage the board now?

              Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U

depends how bad the damage is you may have to remove the board if needed and take some good pictures for vus to see you may of broke some of the traces off.

Can't tell if anything is broken in these photos but it's as close as I can get. Maybe I should just buy a new one. It does look like there is a hinge type system going on here. I'm afraid to move it a lot though. I'm afraid it will break loose permanently.

Signal pins are still OK. You can use glue to secure that connector down on each end. Super glue works fine.

Here's another shot from the other side of the connector.

Carefully bend it down and use glue to secure the far ends of the connector and it should be OK.

Bought some LockTite Super Glue. Works with plastic, metal, wood, etc...

Got it back together this morning and I still get the split screen. Is there another cable not attached to the boards I pulled out to get to the D Board (D, H and DG boards were pulled). I also checked to see that all connectors were firmly in place for all of the other visible connectors. I'm at a loss. It worked for 30 minutes and I'm back to square one. Maybe this weekend I'll tear it apart and reassemble everything.

Did you manage to get a remote to do those test patterns?

Not yet. Dad is still looking for it. He might have tossed it when he got the universal.

Couldn't find a remote but he said he ordered a new one off eBay. Should be here by next week. I'll put this TV on the back burner until then.

Bought the remote for this TV. All I can get it to do is turn the TV on and off. Volume doesn't appear to be working anymore using the buttons on the TV or the remote. I've had it unplugged for about a week or so. Do I need to program this remote for this TV?
