Got this plasma TV from my Dad today. Half the screen looks good and the other half is either black or the picture is pixelated. I am thinking it's a buffer board since one side looks perfect and the other side looks bad.

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
Sure it's not 42PZ800U? You have a loose cable. Easy fix. Done one before... very common fault.

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
The cable is in a different position for the PZ700U but they do suffer from it too, if you have difficulty post some pics and the location can be highlighted. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
OK, I was able to get to one side of the connector. It did sound like it clicked in but I am still getting the same results. I am uploading photos of what I am seeing on the TV and I will post them as soon as they finish uploading (slow DSL).Comment

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
The cable in question is the red one. However, it's possible this is not your fault.
Service manual:
Enter service mode: while pressing VOLUME DOWN on TV, press RECALL on remote three times within 2 seconds.
Then press button "2" on remote twice to go to AGING menu, and press button "3" to go through each test pattern. What do they look like? Note, each pattern is generated by the D board except WHITE FLAME, I believe. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

You can use any Panasonic remote, LCD or plasma, as long as it has "RECALL" button. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
My TV (the one in the video) had the problem at the connector end on the bottom board, D board. I had to unplug the TV and wait some time after doing so to let it discharge (safety), then was able to reach down and plug the cable in. This isn't shown in the video. My problem was intermittent too and that TV has been fine for nearly a year now. Good luck.
2007 and 2008 PDP from Panasonic are similar but 2007 has upper/lower address drives, 2008 has only lower address drives. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
Would there be some sort of delay after pushing that set of wires back on to the connector? Seems sort of odd that 10 hours after I get it connected back all the way that it finally starts working...Comment

Re: Panasonic TH 42PZ400U
I bought that TV with a 30 minutes to scrambled screen fault, according to owner. Plays for 30 mins then goes bad. I got it for a very low price. I got it home and it works for 20 hours. I decided to take it apart anyway, and it went wrong after moving it around to take it apart. I reseat that cable and it's worked ever since. Thermal expansion and vibration from the fans and plasma panel (that's part of what makes a plasma panel humm quietly) might be working the connector loose. It wasn't seated properly at the factory. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Hi,
Trying to work out if this is TFT problem or TCon issue.
The TV powers up but the top half of the screen, from the right it is OK, but as you look across to the left halfway across it starts get duller and duller until it is very dark on the lefthand side, currently I trying to clean the remote as it seems to have something film wise on the pads stopping it from registering buttons pressed.
Also when changing the screen size of Windows PC display to say to a smaller pixel sizewindow, the original window displayin the top left stays/takes a few seconds to disappear?...2 Photos -
by renechhello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left... -
by Zelek11My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.
This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...10-14-2022, 04:54 PM -
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

by canadaboy25Hey guys, I was given a Panasonic plasma because the top half of the screen was black but the bottom half was still working normally. Sometimes the top half would flicker on and off. I tried reseating all the ribbons and cables thinking it was a loose connection but it made no difference. After I fooled around with it for a while it was working most of the time with only the odd flickering on the top half. There was no real correlation between my tests and it starting to work. I set it up and started using it and it was perfectly fine 98% of the time. I used it like this for a couple months with...
