having a hard time spotting those resistors, wonder if they are tucked under one of the heatsinks, you see any?Comment

Read thread carefully, maybe try suggested in post # 9. After heating caps don't wait til it cools down try tv while it's still hot, youtube is your friend for how to videos, plenty there.Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-14-2024, 05:42 AM.Comment

I have already changed EC210, old one was a bit bulged. I have the board out on a bench not connected to the main board. How do I test to see if issue is fixed or not?. When connected to power I am still not getting any voltage reading on LED connectors, not sure if I should. Thank you I found C338. BTW R355 in on the back of the board near the IC. I am not able to find R002.Comment

Dirty test for electrolytic caps if no capacitor tester at hand, can use a multimeter set at about 20k ohms, tv UNPLUGGED, reading should gradually rise or fall, switch leads and should go the other way. You will know if you do the test correctly by the readings, can try it on a good cap that isn't installed also. As always be careful you don't want one of those caps zapping you, if you hold the power button down on tv for 30 seconds with it unplugged, it will help discharge the caps. Can test them with multimeter to be sure they are discharged. Good practice is just never touch anything on the HOT/DEADLY side with your hands.Last edited by nomoresonys; 08-15-2024, 09:44 AM.Comment

You can build a dim bulb tester for a few bucks, youtube is full of how to videos, if there is a short on the board the dbt will light up bright and stay bright. It saves from blowing up components, also if it don't glow bright it should be safe to try the board.I have already changed EC210, old one was a bit bulged. I can not do test post 9. I have already replaced the capacitor but would like to know how to test the board to ensure the capacitor was the only issue. I dont have the TV right now, just the power board on a bench and the power cord.
What do I test & how to check if the board is working or not?Comment

I am not positive how to test this board as stand alone, I'll have to defer to the other members.Comment

NC - "No Connection" - not installed in the specifically specified option (Not Connected)
It is installed when the CON302 connector is missing.Last edited by lotas; 08-15-2024, 04:30 PM.Comment

Thanks again....But pin 3 in con301 and pin 1 in con302 are just connected to each other...they dont seemed to be connected ato any thing on the circuit board. I am getting 240-290 on the other pins when ready to PCB grounds. Again the pCB is not on the TV, it is stand alone when i do these readings.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Good day everyone,
Let me preface this with letting you know that I have a smalltime computer repair shop but do not have a lot of experience when it comes to board diagnostics. I am good at soldering etc but finding the issue if there isn't an obvious burnt component is not my strong suit.
The other day I got a customer come in with a macbook A1990 (motherboard 820-01814-A) that would not turn on and had previously been getting the warning message that the battery needed servicing. (Most folks seem to ignore that message, just like the check engine light in vehicles.)... -
by MalodicOneOriginal fault was customer spilled milk on unit, no corrosion was found on the board. Took mainboard out of original case and LCD and swapped it into the fully functioning case and LCD.
Shorts show up all over the board when trackpad is connected only. Trackpad is used and fully functioning from another unit of same model. Voltage injection causes trackpad connector to get hot but nothing else, swapped on board connector to rule that out, same issue. Diode reading on IPD_MCU_INT_CONN is higher then reference board @ .935 expected is .803. Shorts show up on PPVBAT_AON_CHGR_REG and... -
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.
Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today.... -
by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... - Loading...
