    Panasonic tcp42s30 7 Blink Problem

    Hi,

I have a Panasonic Plasma TCP42S30 (2011) TV that went out a week or so ago. The picture went out and when I turned it back on I had a solid red LED light, but no picture (no signs of dimming etc).

After diagnosing the problem I came to the conclusion I had a shorted SN board (mostly because of unplugging the SN board gave me 7 blinks and everything else I still got a solid LED).

So I sent it to a repair person on Ebay who specifically fixes these boards and when he received it said the SN board had 4 shorted Mosfets. He fixed the board, shipped it back.

I got it back today, installed the repaired board. Hooked up everything, (even new screws), everything tight. The TV fired up normally, but with 3 horizontal black bars across the screen (about 2 inches wide).

Everything else looked good, green LED on both SN and SS boards, low buzzing from power supply, A board looks fine etc.

So I looked online about the horizontal bars and found it's commonly caused by ribbon cables to the SN board that aren't seated correctly.

So I go and reseat the first ribbon cable and the top 1st black bar goes away. I then reseat the next cable and the 2nd bar goes away. I'm in the process of taking out the 3rd ribbon cable to reseat it and the TV shuts down. I power back up and get no picture and 7 blinks.

The TV has been powered on the entire time throughout the process (about 10-15 minutes of a normal picture with black bars) until it shuts down.

I then try to diagnose the 7 blink problem and find out that the SN board has once again been shorted somehow.

It doesn't matter which cable I unplug power from the SN board, SS board, I still get 7 blinks.

Please give me some direction experts What's my next step? Sending the SN board back to get repaired for the 2nd time?

    Thanks,

    Tommy

Re: Panasonic tcp42s30 7 Blink Problem

I just got some information on a possible solution and he said I most likely shorted a Driver IC (on the SN board) by crossing the connector in the process of reseating the ribbon cables with the TV powered on.

Does that seem feasible to any experts here?

    Thanks.

If you attempted to reseat the panel ribbons with it running, most definitely.

And here's an example of Dave, a TV repairer making that exact same mistake by his own admission. he makes very interesting repair videos too.

Thanks for the confirmation and video tw2005. Very helpful.

I guess I'm an idiot for trying to reseat these ribbon cables with the TV powered on. I usually never mess with anything with the power turned on, but looking at the black bars disappear while reseating the cables in real time was the lazy way and it's ultimately going to cost me another SN board fix.

yeah, it hurts. I have not met anyone who's perfect yet, it's a hard lesson to learn.

maybe fly the sympathy flag and try and get a discount on the next board.

Anyway, if TV guy can make that mistake so can anyone. I bet the board was a bit pricey, that the bad part of it.

Yeah, this particular SN board is out of stock everywhere. The repair on these boards are going for $90-100 on ebay. It was a costly mistake (to me anyway).

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
              by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
              by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
