Hi folks, I have here another 40 inch samsung LE40R88BD which is just displaying a black screen when powered on, I have tested the fuse on the inverter <<<<(t-CON) and i'm getting 13.07DCV on both sides, Is it worth trying the eeprom reset or does this seem like a hardware fault??

Check the fuse on the t-con with this fault. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

On the left hand side of the t-con board, there are points marked AVDD_1, 3.3V, VON, VON_P and VOFF. What voltage do you measure on these? Red probe on test point, black on chassis. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

The t-con appears to be working, at least on the power supply front. Try with only one of the LCD panel connectors plugged in (the two ribbon connectors at top.)
It is possible it is main or t-con; have you attempted to get sound with an external source?Last edited by tom66; 12-21-2013, 02:39 PM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

The cable between the main and t-con.
LVDS = Low Voltage, Differential Signalling (the type of signal used to transmit video between main and t-con.)Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I don't know what to make of that but I'm not certain if the fault is on the main or t-con. You can try to connect a source to the TV playing audio, just press SOURCE to switch through them and see if you get audio. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Re: LE40R88BD Black screen with backlight???
Ah ha, Connected HDMI then pressed source button to find it, now the set is switching itself on and off and i hear a clicking relay with the red power led flashing randomly, doesn't appear to be any sort of repeating error code...??Comment

That sounds more like a main board fault than anything. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LE40R88BD Black screen with backlight???
Agreed Tom66, been following this thread and I've just recently suffered a very similar issue with the same Tv, only real difference I saw was a pulsing power supply, this manifested it's self with a flickering back light that would cycle faster then slower and so on, a main board change cured it.Last edited by Dang; 12-21-2013, 06:01 PM.Comment

Hello,
YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo
I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.
On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.
I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.
I changed the battery with a new and original battery.
I also had corrosion/oxidation on the... -
by turmixHello, I'm working on a new deskmod pc project and have a problem with my monitor, an AOC U34G3XM, well, I may have bricked it.
The monitor was dismanteled and the separate parts parts integrated in the desk. the screen panel alone is on the upper part, and main board/video board + power board on the back of the desk (not enough place on the cover to fit it)
At first everything was working smoothly, then I decided to change the connexion between the video board and the screen for a longer one. Still working fine
During another reassembly, I made a mistake, and...-

by AudezeI have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.

My name is Chris, I am a 30 years old embedded software developer working in the automotive industry. I am really passionate about learning new skills and repairing/crafting stuff. I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappearedI bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...

by FallenOne008Hi everyone, hope all is well. I have run into a problem where my backlight screen is no longer working.
The original screen was beginning to show signs of faultiness. I believe it was part of the inverter board that was going bad. The backlight for the screen was still functional at this point. Well one night as I was tinkering with the laptop, my idiot self forgot to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. I attempted to reconnect the EDP cable onto the motherboard, and as you might guess, I saw a nice spark from the cable and the port. Don't worry, I'm still kicking myself... - Loading...
