    Philips 42PFL7603D Losing brightness

Friend is having problems with this set apparently parts of the screen lose brightness and go dim, sometimes it works fine and then goes like this and other times it's like this from start up.

    Power problem?

    sorry for the poor picture

    Panel tab bonds, sometimes repairable.

Definitely looks like a tab bonding fault...

Hello, did you manage to repair the fault? I think I have the same problem.

Probably a backlight issue, 15 years is a pretty good run for those leds.

Don't think it is backlight problem due to image retention...

This model does not have LEDs.
To begin with, distort the LVDS cable, carefully clean the contacts on this cable.

Oops, my bad, it was one of the first with ambilight tech, but i shouldn't have assumed it was led backlighting.

Probably poor tab bond contact, many have been "fixed" with shimming.

Something that you can try is take your knuckle and tap on the bezel NOT the screen, tap all along it, see if the display ever changes any, like clears up for a second or anything.

I tried the knuckle test, you were right. The screen does clear for a moment. Looks like it is bad tab bond contact. Is it possible to repair it?

Here's a shim job done on a sanyo, he does all of them, I was lazy and just did the one that wasn't getting good contact but its working fine, I guess all the trouble it is to tear down, might as well do them all, there's a bunch more videos on youtube about the procedure, some use flexible tubing and such, just need something that's going to keep a little pressure on it for good contact and not damage it of course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=purk_SyiT44

Trying to control Philips backlight manually with PWM — brightness increases with frequency...?
                            by ohren
I raised the question of whether PWM on the power board "dim" pin would be a reasonable assumption for controlling the backlight of a Philips TV (55put6101/12): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...d-tv-backlight. I didn't receive any insights there so I went ahead and tried it.

                            The setup is basically:

                            Rpi3 hardware PWM → 220 Ohm → NPN transistor → dim pin

Transistor is switching the 3.5 V supply on the power board....

HP Pavilion 15-1812nd scrren brightness issues
                            by dr.thodt
I have a notebook, HP Pavilion 15-1812ND with brichtness issues.
When in windows, I use the the brightness keys on the keyboard, brightness goes up aprox (75%) then the screen begins to flicker and gets darker again.
When I lower the brightness again it's getting brighter first and then it dims and the flickerings gets less.

I already chaned the screen and LVDS Cable.

Does anyone ever seen this problem and maybe have an idea how to fix this.
                            Any help would be apprecited.

                            Thank you

HELP - Contrast/brightness issue with subtitles on screen
                            by cloudy
                            Hi everybody
Since day one I'm having an unpleasant contrast/brightness issue on my Asus laptop.
Basically while watching movies, if subtitles appear on screen, the contrast or the brightness of the entire screen increases a lot (not sure if it'is brightness or contrast), disturbing the viewing of the movie.

Last year I replaced my screen because got damaged and this contrast/brigthness issue persists. It happens only on the laptop screen, in fact If i plug an external HDMI screen the issue does not occour on it.

It occours both on ubuntu and windows...

                            GETAC S410 G1 brightness problem
                            by sarto
Hi everybody. I have a Getac S410 G1 with a screen brightness witch cannot be adjusted. It is at full brightness when the charger is plugged in (19V on the LCD connector) and at minimum under battery (12V on the LCD connector). Does anyone know where the problem is coming from ? Thank you.

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
                            by aidanmo
                            Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
                            • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
                            • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
                            • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar
                            ...
