Thanks for the quick effort.
Unfortunately this did not change the laptop's behavior.
From this point on this machine sadly became a brick.

I get verification errors while dumping this EC.
Serial number is GE72 6QD-016NLK1509000008.
So I probably found the smoking gun: corrupt EC chip.
I do have spare EC chips, so that shouldn't be a problem. Unless you really need a dump.

Hi,
I've a MSI GE72 which crashed during firmware update, according to the customer.
The symptoms are exact like original poster's issue.
I did flash a new BIN to the chip (off board). This did not change anything.
I do see traffic between bios and cpu when probing pin 2 and 5 of the bios chip, so something is good.
The final thing I want to try is reflashing the EC. I did practice on another board with the ENE KB9028Q on it, which succeeded, so I'd like to give it a go on this one.
Can somebody help me with an EC dump?

Asus GA401Q only working from battery
Hi,
I have an Asus GA401Q which only works from battery power. That suggests the board is mainly fine.
The battery status is 255%, also with a brand new battery.
The BQ24800 was replaced since it showed signs that it was part of the problem, but possibly the battery was flat at that moment.
If I insert the 19V adapter in the DC jack and measure the current sense resistor's voltage it fluctuates between 0V and 19.5V and the keyboard backlight flashes (probably because the battery is almost flat. It does the same when I run the laptop from battery).
There's a...

Thanks a lot for checking this thread.
The number I found on the mainboard is 6-77-NJ70CU00-D03-7C#10
Hopefully this bios gets a second chance this way....

Thanks for the effort. Unfortunately the laptop still powers up but does not post. I'll have to search elsewhere.

Terra Mobile 1716 Bios needed
Dear Bios tech,
I have a Terra Mobile laptop here which probably has Bios issues. Terra is a German brand, so probably unknown the further you live away from Germany.
The sticker mentions

If somebody could have a look at his dump, that would be appreciated....

Lenovo Ideapad 3 17ADA05 issues?
Hi,
From two completely different customers I received two Lenovo Ideapad 3 17ADA05 laptops on the same day with the same problem:
- Screen turning black all of a sudden and not being able to get out of it without a battery reset.
- Showing artifacts.
The above happen either in Windows or in memtest86+
The RAMslot's pins have been reworked to be 100% tight to the board.
I opened one of them and disabled the on board RAM. The problem remained, so I changed the Sodimm in the RAM slot. The problem remained.
Is this a fluke or is this...

HP Pavilion 15-1812nd scrren brightness issues
I have a notebook, HP Pavilion 15-1812ND with brichtness issues.
When in windows, I use the the brightness keys on the keyboard, brightness goes up aprox (75%) then the screen begins to flicker and gets darker again.
When I lower the brightness again it's getting brighter first and then it dims and the flickerings gets less.
I already chaned the screen and LVDS Cable.
Does anyone ever seen this problem and maybe have an idea how to fix this.
Any help would be apprecited.

Hi mon2. Is there something you can think of with the values I gave in the previous post?...

Thank you.
LDO = 16K
EN2 = 1.6V steady
EN1 = pulsating up to 3.1V

Thanks for the good info.
The resistance to GND from the 3.3V coil is 2K, just like the 5V coil which is stable.
The pulsating coil takes about 4 seconds to cycle.
