Re: Panasonic Plasma TV TX-P50X50B - Shorted power supply

    OK, I see no-one's interested.
However, just in case someone ends up here from a Google-search or the like, I'll give some feedback on how this has ended.

Obviously replacing the original 7-pin FAN6755U with a new 8-pin ditto wasn't an option.
It seemed more reasonable trying out the NCP1271 chip even if I haven't found any docomentation as to this chip being a drop-in replacement for a FAN6755U.
Not really surprising as the pin-out is different from the 6755U EXCEPT on the Darfon schematic.
So, here goes nothing and I replaced the original chip labelled 6755U with a NCP1271B and switched-on.
Everything is absolutely fine and the TV works again.
Testing for bad-cap's, just in case showed nothing.
I assembled the set and called it a day

Thanks again for the Darfon PSU schematic.

Wow nice fix! Looks like it was the standby controller all along?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Yes, it certainly seems to be the only thing wrong.
The fault started out being periodic with typically a week or so between breakdowns.
Finally the fault matured and stayed permanent.
So, it wasn't such a big thing finding the defective switching-chip.
It was identifying what could be used as a replacement that proved difficult.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

          Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
          by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

          After all of...

Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

          D608, good
          D618 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
          D619 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
          D865 RF101L4S, shorted (See warning 1 below)
