      Re: vestel 17IPS06-2 help

Hi, still trying to resurrect this set, bought a backlight tester and all the backlights work when tested individually so i am back in the same boat, its becoming an obsession now with a determination that i wont be beaten, trying to find a suitable bulb to test the board "live" but i cannot make my mind up as to a suitable one, any help appreciated.

        Re: vestel 17IPS06-2 help

Use the neon bulb on each output to see if it is working.
A backlight tester isn't necessarily going to help - the TV may determine a failed bulb differently to your tester.

tested aech output with a bulb and when i connect the bulb to pl700 and pl701 in turn the set stays on, when its connected to pl702 and pl703 it goes 2 secs to black, now i am getting excited lol.

            Re: vestel 17IPS06-2 help

pl700 and pl701 are fed by the same transformer which was replaced because the original one was o/c, heres hoping that tom66 might get a chanc to jump back onto this thread.

Just gonna bump this to try catch tom66, hoping that its not a backlight problem but something on the protection circuit side, because when either of the backlights is replaced with a bulb the set does not trip.Could the new transformer be bad?? and not be able to drive the old backlights??

Yes, the new transformer could be bad. One way to eliminate a specifically located protection fault would be to swap the two transformers. If the fault moves, the transformer is probably bad.

thanks, gonna check around fan7311 because all the feedback for overcurrent run to pin 10.

sometimes when you look at something it can be staring you in the face and you cannot see, the set is working after i took a step back and started retracing what i had done with help from tom66.

original fault 2 secs to black
opened back cap missing on decoder board replaced still no go
general resolder job and cap testing still no go
then tom pushed me in the right direction with the check windings of transformer found one open circuit, replaced but still no go.
decided to do a general component check around the safety circuit and tom said try swapping around the new transformer i did and the fault followed the new tranny, easy new tranny faulty WRONG
Hooked up scope component tester and started comparing one agains the other and it was the older tranny which was faulty, all i can think is that when the first one went open circuit the other was probably going the same way but was weak instead which then put a mismatch load on the feedback circuit and caused the set to trip out.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.

                      Vestel main board 17MB140TC

Hello, board 17MB140TC, I need to change the remote control in Vestel tool box 1.1. The original is there
Rc48xx_2D and I want to install TOSHIBA-Rc481xx, but the program says that a maximum of 9 characters can be entered. I only entered Rc481xx and the program does not accept the driver I have in the original. Does anyone know how to do this? Other Vestel codes work.
                      I can send a dump....

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                      by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
