Re: acer aspire 1810tz can not turn on
cpu, gpu, ram.
i would do a reflow of the graphics chip.
was the fan blocked when you took it apart?
and part of the board look like its overheating?
dont forget a lot of motherboards wont start unless the keyboard and fans are plugged in so if you are trying to test with them missing you will have a hard time.

Re: acer aspire 1810tz can not turn on
start by taking all components off, ram, hard drive, cd rom, battery and see if it boots to bios, if yes the replace one at a time until you find the faulty part, if still no go its a board fault so checking voltages is the start and finding a schematic will be a big help.
The fault used to be the sign of the gpu/southbridge failure which involved reflow/reball.

Re: vestel 17IPS06-2 help
Sparks88 =1
vestel = 0
sometimes when you look at something it can be staring you in the face and you cannot see, the set is working after i took a step back and started retracing what i had done with help from tom66.
original fault 2 secs to black
opened back cap missing on decoder board replaced still no go
general resolder job and cap testing still no go
then tom pushed me in the right direction with the check windings of transformer found one open circuit, replaced but still no go.
decided...

Re: My very first Rework flux by KINGBO Japan
And i thought the idea of a forum was a place to help and share information and not a place to brag about who has the longest degree and i am better than you are, different countries have different laws governig many things and in certain parts of the world using a product together with information gathered from the wiser and elder all help to get the job done.
i do not beleive that everyone on here got to where they are by just reading and that is why experience is the most important thing you can have, i have worked with many...

Re: vestel 17IPS06-2 help
Just gonna bump this to try catch tom66, hoping that its not a backlight problem but something on the protection circuit side, because when either of the backlights is replaced with a bulb the set does not trip.Could the new transformer be bad?? and not be able to drive the old backlights??

Re: Vbios for aspire 9920
If video is good on external monitor then external monitor detect and switching chip is good also gpu must be good, i would check all cables to lcd first, also is there a bios setting for video??, if you are getting video from external port then chip is working properly.

Re: BA733S IC replacement
Power supply is blinking rapidly because it can sense a short circuit. I would start by looking nearer the power jack and checking for shorts there first.

Re: HP DV7 erratic turn on
First signs of the dreaded nvidia gpu failure, this model is notorious for the failure and to make things worse the motherboard seems to have more flex (thinner)so a lot of repair/reflow/reball places will not touch it because the repair will nearly always bounce.

Re: Worst soldering job ever??
wonder if the leads touched/shorted to ground or other supplies and it went bang!!!, and thats why the back went on and put on the bay, send the seller some side cutters for the leads.

Re: Lead vs lead free solder headaches
Leaded but maybe thats what i was brought up on, and it looks a lot better, lead free always seems to look like a dry joint even when its good.

Re: My very first Rework flux by KINGBO Japan
the fake stuff smells terrible as well, i bought some and could not do a decent reflow/reball because it just made a mess when warming up, i have used the fake stuff for basic soldering and it seems ok but even though it says no clean it leaves a residue behind that stains/leaves marks on the pcb which leads me to beleive that it will eventuall damage the board, went back to amtech LF4300 TF and getting consistent results.

Re: Noob attempting to fix a blown NAD T-760 AV receiver
because of the age of the amp i would do a total recap of the whole board, you have a service manual so doing a list is going to be pretty easy, i did my harman kardon pm625 not so long ago and it really made a big difference, i used panasonic fm or fr series caps, all low esr 105 degree everywhere and a lot of the older caps taken out when tested were well out of spec, also a good resoldering of the board helped as well.

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 223BW - dead as a rock
one i managed to rescue had a faulty backlight which i found when i pulled on the wire and the end of the backlight came away, it had broken inside the end cap, replaced with led backilght strips and driver and it has been working well ever since.

Re: vestel 17IPS06-2 help
pl700 and pl701 are fed by the same transformer which was replaced because the original one was o/c, heres hoping that tom66 might get a chanc to jump back onto this thread.
