Toshiba 32DT2U1 Power Supply or Mainboard Issue?

    Hi,

I have a 32" Toshiba LCD that is just out of warranty. When I press the power button on the TV, the green LED comes on for 5 seconds (no picture) and then goes off. I opened the back of the unit and disconnected the mainboard and LCD from the power supply (PK101V1500I). I applied power and measured the output on the connector that faces the mainboard. I could only see 5V on the 5V pins. The 12V and 24V pins had no voltage. Is this normal? I did a quick check of the caps and could not see any bulging. Can I assume the lack of a reading for 12V and 24V is a power supply issue or is the mainboard required to "turn on" these levels.

    Thanks in advance

The 12v/24v power supply section is switched on by the PWON (PS_ON) signal from the main board when power switch is activated.
Post good clear pictures of the back of the TV and the boards so we can see what we are dealing with.
Are these the boards in the version of your TV?

Yes those are the boards list on the website. They match what I have below.

Here are some photos. Turns out my phone camera is not the greatest. I can take some more.

A corrupted EEPROM causes this problem. I have fixed a few hundred of this model for this issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. Is this something I can fix myself or do I have to take it to a repair shop?

Better yet is it even worth repairing considering you have seen a few hundred with this problem?

If you can find a shop that can replace just the EEPROM, it can be done pretty cheaply. Replacing the board is more expensive, but is also a reliable repair, as the weak EEPROM that fails has been upgraded on new boards. Once the EEPROM is replaced, they seem to be pretty reliable TVs.

Haven't touched the TV in weeks (other than removing the back to take photos) and decided to plug it in. The picture came on and it worked! Used it for awhile. Next day back to the same symptoms (power light on for a 2-3s and then off). Would a corrupt EEPROM exhibit this behavior?

When I first created this thread, I looked for parts at the link suggested. They were out-of-stock so I stored the TV away. Forgot about it until last week. Plugged it in and the set is working fine. We will see how long it lasts. Appreciate the help.

                          Hi everyone,

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                          Assuming...

I have a floodlight-security camera that recently died on me.

its hardwired to 115v po115v outlet. One evening it simply died. After some troubleshooting (ensuring it had power and ensuring the electronics were actually functional by supplying 5v via usb port) i realized the power supply must be the issue. The supply was noticably warm to the touch even though it was not powering anything.

Trying to understand what i was up against i went looking for others with similar issues and anyone who might have attempted a repair. While a few ppl have had the...
