    Samsung LN-T4066F Backlight Issue

Trying to repair this set for someone. Symptoms -- Backlight lights for about 1/2 second on power up. Inverter transformer is built in to the power supply however there is an inverter board with a bunch of smaller transformers (balancer I guess). I'll reference this thread for pictures since its the same.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ight=ln-t4066f

After the backlight goes off I can clearly see the picture with a light shining on the front. Also, there is 12V going from the PS to the balancer board. All voltages check out.

Anyway, my question is balancer board, PS, or an actual CCFL failure? I of course have no way to test the voltage going from the PS to the balancer. It's labeled at 1500V RMS. I'm thinking the balancer with PS as my 2nd choice but any other opinions would be great.

    Thanks as always,

    Aaron

Oh, and if it makes any difference the caps all appear to be in perfect shape. Contrast to the set in the other thread.

There is a small connector with 4pins? ON THE BALANCER BOARD. Can you see the label of those pins like FB, LD, ETC?

Check solder connections where the transformer is on the psu ive had a lot of these models with cracked solder joints there.

If not one check the transformers on the inverter board, one of them may have gone bad. There was a video on how to bypass it somewhere.

Otherwise it might be a burnt out ccfl.

There is video by norcal715 on youtube showing how to look for error voltage on the Balancer board.

Solder looks good on the inverter transformer. There is a buzzing noise on the balancer for the brief moment the lights come on. I thing I may replace that and see what happens. It's only $14. I'll check out that video tomorrow too
                and report back.

                    Re: Samsung LN-T4066F Backlight Issue

Ok, so this is strange. I followed the video and all but 3 are around .12V - .145V which makes sense. The other 3 are .38V-.395V and they are right in a row. #2, #3, and #4 looking from the top of the screen down. So, nothing goes up to the point of 1V or more like in the video. And the fact that those 3 are in a row makes me think that it's the board rather than 3 defective tubes that happen to be in a row. All the transformer resistances are within 1% so those look good. I went ahead and order an inverter balancer board so we'll see what happens around Monday.

Thanks again for the help guys,

                    Aaron

                      Re: Samsung LN-T4066F Backlight Issue

Update for everyone. There were two issues. Balancer board was indeed bad. Got the new one yesterday. It did not resolve the issue but upon following the video again after swapping the board there was clearly one transformer with too much current draw. I bypassed that one using the instructions from the video and the TV is working now. Can't really even tell the one bulb is out.

Thanks for the help as always guys. Was a new learning experience.

Glad to hear you got it fixed, bad lamp drawing too much current. I think your AC reading is not as high as the one shown on the video is due to your meter does not have the same C frequency bandwidth as the FLUKE he is using (you are trying to measure about 70~80KHz AC voltage). If you look at your voltage ratio between high and low, it is about 1:4.

                          Hello All!

So here is the issue I am having. When everything is plugged in as normal, the TV turns on and I get a quick flash of the backlight. After that the backlight never turns back on but the rest of the TV works fine. If I pull the PWM pin from the cable between the main board and power board the backlight turns on and the tv works "normally". If it is plugged in I get nothing. I did do a factory reset but that didn't solve my issue. When everything is plugged in normally I get .6v at start up and continues rise over about 10 seconds. (~.6v then ~.8v then ~1.8v...

                          by Cornito
                          Hello Team,

I'm back with another backlight issue that I thought was simple, but it turned out to be more complex than expected.

Let me provide a brief history: The TV was working well, then one day, the backlight started and shut down. I thought I had an LED issue leading to this behavior, so I replaced the LEDs with brand new ones. However, the issue remains the same.

Next, I replaced the electrolytic capacitors attached to the LED power supply, but the results were the same. I then replaced the driver, a OB3365RP, and did it twice due to the same result....

                          Samsung un65eh6000 backlight issue
                          by bstewara
                          Hi All,
                          I have a Samsung Un65eh6000 with a backlight issue.

The original issue was backlight current was present but led strips did not light

I tested the backlights and all tested to be working properly.

I assumed then that the power supply was not sending current to the led strips.
Power supply board part number BN44-00560A.
After checking voltages it appears that current output at connector CNL802 was outputting the correct current 189 VDC on pins 1,2,6, and 8.

The issue then was there was no ground on the connector...

                          by ScHAmPi
                          Hi all,

Because of two bright spots and a couple of dark spots I decided to replace the backlights in my Samsung UE48JU7000. See attached photos:

I thought all went well, but after full assembly and testing it out it turns out not all is fine. The backlights are completely fine but I have some weird issues on the right half of the screen. Since I didn't really touch the T-CON board (apart from taking out the ribbons of the display and reconnecting them on assembly) it would be weird that the issue is with the T-CON board... But based on the behavior of the service...

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                          by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                          Anyone...
