    Vizio XVT553SV Power ON/OFF Problem

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum and not an electronics tech or engineer. My Vizio 55" LCD TV recently developed an intermittent problem. Occasionally when I shut it off the Vizio logo below the panel will go from lit white to black. It normally goes from lit white to lit amber (or yellow or orange - I'm color blind). When it goes to black the TV will not power back on either with the remote or the jog wheel. If I unplug the set and leave it unplugged for awhile (the shortest period I've tried is one hour) and then plug it back in it will go into what I assume to be a re-boot as the Vizio logo flashes from amber to white and back for 30 to 90 seconds then settles on amber. The set will then power up normally with all picture, sound and apps working properly. This problem is only happening every few days.

I called Vizio tech support twice. The first time I was told to unplug the set and hold the jog wheel in for at least 30 seconds then plug it back in. This didn't work. When I called the second time I was referred to their tech support company, HD Repair. I explained the problem to the person who answered the phone and she told me she would talk to a technician then call me back with the problem. I called again the next day and she told me the technician said both the main board and the t-con board were bad (she called the t-con board a t-connector board). I suspect she didn't relay what I told her exactly to the technician as I can't understand how a t-con board could effect a non-normal shutdown or power up. I don't know if the main board controls power up and down, but that seems reasonable. I would certainly appreciate any troubleshooting help you could give me including if the power supply board could be the culprit.

    Thanks very much.

Do you think this could be a bad power supply rather than a main board problem?

        Thanks,

Does it make any sense to you that the t-con board would have anything to do with the problem?

As far as the flashing Vizio logo after the set is unplugged is normal for some model Vizio's especially those models starting with XVT. When the tv is off it is normally in Standby mode at that time the Vizio logo should be amber, when yours is black (no logo light at all) it's not in standby.
I would check to make sure the power cord is seated/pushed all the way in at the back of the tv and ensure that ac line voltage is always present at the electrical outlet where it's plugged in.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Sony KDL-40Z4500 LCD with stripes and 9 blinks (possible BGC board or harness problem
              by huj3r
              Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:

              > This indicates HFR Communication error. [ HFR Communication...

              Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

              Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
              by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
              CN6401
              Pin 01 NC
              Pin 02 NC
              Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
              Pin 04 "N/C"
              Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
              Pin 06 "GND": N/C
              Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...
