    Tv repair directory

I previously had my tv repaired by a guy I found on a TV Repair directory. A co-worker is having TV troubles and asked if I knew anyone. I seem to have misplaced the card I had from him, but I remember that I found him through some sort of TV repair directory. It was some sort of certification he said he had that made him eligible for listing on this directory. Does anyone have any idea what that may be? I tried searching with no luck.
    Thank you

There are certifications from manufacturers like Panasonic and Samsung, for example you can find an authorised service centre for Samsung here

    Is that what you mean?

No, it was some sort of electronics certification. He said he goes to a convention for it every year

You don't really need any certification to repair TVs. The conference might provide technical information or some letters after his name, but they aren't a requirement, and don't necessarily indicate a good technician.

More likely the CET in the US. I am CET which I received in the 70's. He is the NESDA member? If you have electronics repair shop in Cal, you will need the license.

Samsung un82ru88000f - Boot loop sort of but can correct with taping of LVDS ribbon
              by NolesFan
Hello all... TV started boot looping. Opened the back panel and tried to isolate the problem. Just PSB no boot loop. PSB and MB no boot loop. Plug in the LVDS from panel to MB and boot looping starts up. It doesnt matter of order that I plug the LVDS ribbons back in, only 1 and no boot loop but as soon as 2nd one plugs in boot looping. I then noticed a flicker on the screen when I was closing the clip on the harness to the LVDS. Shut the lights off so I can see better, and I noticed as i slowly close it, I will get a picture, but as soon as it clips in, I lose picture and booting happens. So I...

              Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
              by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...

[SOLVED] 820-00165 corrupted network of some sort
              by iMuhtaseb
[SOLVED] -- I came in this morning and I installed the AirPort screw with a little push and it resolved the issue.

              Hello everybody!

I hope you all having a great day.

820-00165 came with a black screen problem; the computer would operate normally but sometimes it gets stuck in a black screen for some reason..
(I did not verify this issue when I turned on the computer until later on)
After disassembly and doing visual inspection I found Q1840 and U1845 had some corrosion on it and around it.. from the schematics I understood that this...

Hp ZBook 17 G3 Not turning on sort of ???
              by CraigR
I have an hp ZBook 17 that will not turn on with the power button. I do have a charge light. I have the board out and the switch is good then I found something not making sense to me. A mosfet (see pic) has 19.9volt at the drain but nothing at source or gate HOWEVER if I touch the gate and ground with my bare finger I suddenly get power and can turn on the laptop with the switch and boots and runs fine. I did replace mosfet but same results. Not sure why the small resistance in my body to ground would get it going?...

What sort of capacitors are these?
              by dicky96
Guys, what sort are these - so I can order some replacements

They are through hole not SMD. Also how do I read the markings on this type to determine the voltage.

              I take it the 270 = 270uF...
