[SOLVED] -- I came in this morning and I installed the AirPort screw with a little push and it resolved the issue.
Hello everybody!
I hope you all having a great day.
820-00165 came with a black screen problem; the computer would operate normally but sometimes it gets stuck in a black screen for some reason..
(I did not verify this issue when I turned on the computer until later on)
After disassembly and doing visual inspection I found Q1840 and U1845 had some corrosion on it and around it.. from the schematics I understood that this has to do with debugging of some sort but I went ahead and replaced the chips anyway..
After replacing those here where the computer started exhibiting what the customer proclaimed, the computer powers on and stays on a black screen.. after A LOT of digging I noticed the PCI slot for AirPort had some corrosion inside of them.. As soon as I removed the AirPort card the computer POSTed normally.. I tried my best cleaning the line but it was unsuccessful, so I just went ahead and applied some low melt solder on all pins and applied 450c head from above then went to the bottom side (I applied aluminum tape all around U3210, U5490, U3540 and 3550 all as well..
Got a new PCI installed successfully and tested for shorts and compared diode mode as well from a known-good board..
The computer POSTs successfully but sadly does not connect to any wireless network.. It keeps putting weird IPs and saying "Self-Sorted IP" or something like that.. It seems its getting all voltages but maybe something logical have died?
Appreciate all your help and sorry for the long post!
Note: I tried multiple AirPort cards and different known-good OS
